At the beginning of the 1954-55 year, fifteen seniors returned to Lyons High School. During the summer months, two members withdrew from the class. They were Don Dayhoff, who entered Linton Stockton High School, and William Allen, who withdrew to work. During the school year, we lost Don Gibson, who enlisted in the United States Navy. We now have a total of fourteen in our class. Class officers selected were: Delmar O'Neall, president, Bob Patterson, vice-president, Clyde Tibbett, secretary, and Carolyn Goad, treasurer. The seniors sponsored the Halloween carnival and also had the concession stand at the home basketball games. The class enioyed a Christmas party on December 15, at the home of M'. and Mrs. D. H. Vass. The class is looking forward to the Baccalaureate Services on May 15, and the Commencement on Nlay 17. WE OF '55 In '52 as a freshman class, Under the black and white, They said that we were green as grass, But we fought with all our might, When '53 had rolled around, The school term had begun, We found that we were sophomores-- Our freshman year was won. Then wordly wise, we sophomores, Made freshmen toe the mark, We thought we sat on top the world, And life was one grand lark, But gracious sakes in '53 When we made the iunior troop, We found that we were, not so smart, Or such a iolly group. We worked with all our might and main, A vision in our sight, Our efforts then were not in vain, For we made the grade all right. And with the longed-for goal in sight, As seniors brave and true, We highly honored black and white, And red and white too. Now as we see the parting hour, ls drawing very near, It seems this vision slowly towels, Above our hopes and fears, But as we leave this grand old place, With sadness in our heart, With knowledge that we won the race, And we must soon depart. We've loved our school and comrades too, The faculty as well, And all around we'll have to say, Our schooldays have been swell. Altho' we travel far and near, And livea life so gay, We won't forget that black and white Has helped to pave the way. 1A
