Miss Ray is very well known for her teaching ability at Lyons High School. GRAND OPENING Mr. and Mrs. Delmar O'Neall are announcing the grand opening of their new Philco Television Shop in Lyons. To the first twenty-five custom- ers who buy television sets, Mr. O'Neall promises to install the sets free. Free roses will be given to the ladies and balloons will be given to the kiddies. LYONS WIN FINALS Coach Sherry Leavitt's Roaring Lions came from behind the Gerstmeyer Black Cats to win the basketball finals 71-60 at the Bloomington gymnasium Saturday night. We are very sorry to hear that Coach Leavitt is planning to move to Bloomington, where he is to take the position of head coach at Indiana University. HOLDING DEBUT Opera singer, Dorothy Puckett, is making her debut at the Lyons Opera House on Tues - day at two o'clock. Come and see this great performance. Miss Puckett is M's. They were awarded a trip to Alaska. WELCOME General Charles Thompson and wife, the former Carolyn Goad, and twin girls were welcomed into our town yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. Thompson have their permanent residence in New York, and are here for only a few days. They are visiting Mrs. Thompson 's parents. ln her spare time, Mrs. Thomp- son is a dress model for the Murphy Clothing Store. BOO K PUBLISHED Richard Hasler, the man of great strength, published his new book, The Power of Atlas . M'. Hasler hopes to encourage many more to become as great as he. SPEEDI Mr. Carl Strosnider has iust re- turned from his trip across the United States. Mr. Strosnicbr is the first man to travel across the country in sixty hours. He drove a 1921 Ford, to which he attri- butes his miraculous speed. HONOR ED AT LUNCHEON At a luncheon last nidtt, Mr. Clyde Tibbett was awarded a gold medal for being chosen the Finest Garden Grower in the Nation . Mr. Tibbett is very well known for his discovery of the tomato without seeds . GREAT MUSICIAN Miss Jo Nichols, the great baritone and trombone player in the Lyons High School Band, will appear on the Toast of the Town Sunday night. Miss Nichols has won many honors throughout the country playing her famous piece May Moon , which she first played at the Band Festival at Lyons in 1955. FILLING STATION ROBBED Junior Allen, owner of the only filling station in Switz City, re- ported a robbery sometime between midnight and one o'clock fthe only hour of the day that he isn't open for businessl this morning. Reported missing were two grease M-. ...A CIMA... mv.,-tl. VISITING Bob Patterson is visiting friends and relatives in Lyons.
