To our teachers and administrators go much thanks for their devotion and dedication to the guiding and teaching of young people. But how can we thank all of our teachers and administrators for their fine work? It is hard to say thank you on paper but we hope this ACCOLADE will express our thanks to them, and may our actions in the future justify their hard work. To the teachers and administrators of Lynwood High School we sincerely dedicate the ACCOLADE i965. And now it is time. All of our years in school have been but a pre- liminary count down preparing us for the great adventure of life. Our teachers and our parents have done their best to make this solo flight a success in every way. They have filled our minds with the fuel of knowledge, and they have given us the strongest and most durable body possible to cope with the stress and strain of the lift off and to overcome all problems we may meet in our flight through life. The student council, under the leadership of Warren Gay and his Senior Student Body officers, sparked a combined school district and Student Body program to beautify the Knight Quad area, The student body appropriated money for the installation of colorful umbrellas and tables in the stu- dent store area, which was supplemented by the dis- trict in the snack bar area. Funds from student store profits were set aside to continue with campus beau- tification. We witnessed the installation of CI much needed covered eating area at the snack bar. The student council with the co-operation of campus or- ganizations was responsible for furnishing trees and shrubbery within this area. In the future years gradu- ates of the class of '65 will be able to point with pride to this major improvement in the Lynwood High School campus. y-V mam mm a my ., ta . Let us hope that the deeds we shall do in the future will reflect the confidence and effort put forth by the faculty and our parents during our four years at Lynwood High. Our freshman year opened to us a new world of learning and of social activities. With President Mary Bauer at the helm, we embarked Upon our first Homecoming. Our float, named 'lJack and Jill, helped to add enthusiasm to the homecoming fes- tivities. The traditonal Saint Patricks Day Dance, Irish Stomp, proved to be a suc- cess. To bolster our funds, we purchased Thank-You-Notes with a picture of the school on the front and sold labels. Our next port-of-call was our Sophomore year, under the leadership of Presi- dent Wayne Wisnoski. The first activity of that year was the sponsorship of the Welcome Dance for Freshmen. Then, along came Homecoming, and our float, ls- land at the South Pacific, won Honorable Mention. We continued to sell our Thank- You-Notes and sponsored record hops to increase our treasury. As is the pride of all sophomores, we ordered our class rings. Navigating our Junior Class was President Warren Gay. The first order of busi- ness was getting our long-awaited class rings. To further increase our funds we sponsored numerous record hops and continued to sell our Thank-You-Notes. We sponsored the Valentines Sweetheart Dance. As the end of our Junior year came, we had the responsibility of sponsoring the Junior-Senior Prome'iMoonlight Magic at the Elks Club in Long Beach. Moonlight Magic provided a beautiful evening for all who attended. The last port-of-call was captioned by President Glenn Klavert. We entered our Senior year eager to enjoy the privileges reserved for llSeniors Only. Reigning over our last Homecoming was radiant Queen Elaine Perron. The traditional Christmas Dance, Enchanted Christmas, highlightei the Yuletide season. With these activities behind us, we faced the most memorable of alleSenior Week. We will never forget the fun we had at the Senior Picnic at Irvine Park, the serenity of Baccalaureate, the fun-filled excitement of our AIl-Night party, and, above all, Commencementea final reality. Through counseling and friendship of Miss Helen Rees, we have emerged tri- umphant from many a storm. Without her navigation we might have drifted from our course. To her we leave all our love and respect. Now, as each of us are at our last port-of-call, we say to the Castle, to the faculty, and our friends: 'lBON VOYAGE 31 WAYNE WISNOSKI Vice President GLEN KLAVERT President LINDA HAZELWOOD VAL PHILLIPS Secretary Treasurer Row 1: Lef' '0 Right: W. Money mode on this proiect will increase the funds we'll need to carry us through next year's Prom and our senior activities. Another highlight was the selection of our class rings, with ultra-Iight colored stones and initials on the outside of the ring. Assisting President Greg Lee were class officers Rod Childress, Vice Pres- ident; Rosemary Volpp, Secretary; Claudia Johnson, Treasurer. Representatives were Mary Odland, Bunny Pappas, Nancy Phillips, and Jo Ann York. Backed by an enthusiastic council we hope to make the Class of '67 the best one yet. MR.
