Psalmonds D. Moothcrt M. Doud R. Norman B. Iensen I Gridiron Goliciths Cathedral High sent a favored eleven to meet the Knights on the field of combat. The Phantoms found they didn't stand a ghost of a chance against a hard playing Castle team that scored on the first play from scrimmage although Cathedral had the ball. The final tally was 40-7 against the chain clankers, highly touted Phantom squad. The newly opened seasons first defeat came in the form of a hoard of Cavemen when San Diego invaded Lynwood's turf, The McKownmen put up a brave struggle but came out cn the short end of a 18-6 score. Revenge gleamed brightly in the eyes of the Knights when the Tarbabies came to town to renew the struggle between the rivals. The Comptonites, however, lacked last years scor- ing punch and Lynwood reversed the previous years decision by an identical l9-U. - Homecoming week brought the Vikings to Castleland for a titanic battle. The hard fighting Knights were on top of a lQ-l4 score when the final gun sounded. Lynwood journeyed to the Long Beach Memorial Stadium to meet Poly. The strife's end showed the Knights on top of 9-O score. Lynwood's hopes for a perfect league record were torn to shreds by the sharp clawed Panthers. lordan scored four early touchdowns and an up-hill battle ended in defeat for Lyn- wood, 26-20, 'JF qi . , Q QQ g i' Q y l f rw .ft M xy t M am' ' 4 3 l fi 5 4 M ,fi l ff-in -ui Y 1 ' s ' l 'T' 'fi an g me A N m 515 L4 .fuk 1-4. - Qi' I is a 'lf' ' -F W-nil?
