The novelfy of being a parf of a big school had worn off. ln our freshman year we were eligible fo join such imporfanf organizafions as fhe Squires. Yeoman, and Pages. We received feen-age cards and affendocl Friday nighf dances in fh gym. We looked forward fo selecfing our own pro- gram of sfudies. Even as we changed, fhe school changed. lnsfead of a cow pasfure fo fhe soufh of fhe school, we wound newly consfrucfed bungalows. Asphalf replaced fhe dirf, and sidewalks were puf in fhe quadrangle. Suddenly we were sophomores, looking forward fo graduafion and fhe prom. Buf--we never experienced fhese anficipafed acfivifies! Almosf over nighf we changed from a junior high fo a senior high school. Aufomafically we found ourselves senior for fwo more years. The fall of our junior year was one of confusion--no books, desks, or science laboraforiesg and yef wifhin a shorf fime we were esfablished in a daily roufine of school. Consfifiufions were drawn up and new fradifions were given careful fhoughf. When in fhe Fall of l950 we enfered fhe Crowell-Collier Maagazine Drive wifh an afhlefic score board as our goal, we placed firsf in all of Soufhern California. Almosf before we knew whaf had happened we were really seniors. Class colors, rings and sweafers, decals, commencemenf and graduafion commiffees. Wandering fhoughfs refurn fo fhe presenf as we file up fo receive our diplomas.
