Free den+al examina+ions are pro- vided for every s+uden+ desiring +his service. One of +heir big proiecrs has been +o raise funds for 'rhe firsl Lynwood High School P. T. A. scholarship. This scholarship offered fo a senior who plans fo major in elemenlary educafion and who infends fo leach in California. You're Never Too Old, fhe hilarious evening of en+er+ainmen+ which fhis year raised funds for fhe scholarship, revealed unsuspecfed +alen+ among fhe paren+s and 'reachers of fhe communify. The panel discussions and po+luclc dinners are ano+her example of P. T. A. in+eres+ and acfivify. Socially, as well as educafionally, +hese galherings are a wonderful experience for 'Phe s+uden+s, parenfs, and feachers who parficipafe. An annual feslival of 'Fun is fhe P. T. A. Carnival, a+ which +ime fhe carnival queen and her cour+ reign in all 'lheir glory. The proceeds of fhis carnival are used +o fur+her +he welfare acfivilies of +he P.T.A. Each year +he P. T. Even as we changed, fhe school changed. lnsfead of a cow pasfure fo fhe soufh of fhe school, we wound newly consfrucfed bungalows. Asphalf replaced fhe dirf, and sidewalks were puf in fhe quadrangle. Suddenly we were sophomores, looking forward fo graduafion and fhe prom. Buf--we never experienced fhese anficipafed acfivifies! Almosf over nighf we changed from a junior high fo a senior high school. Aufomafically we found ourselves senior for fwo more years. The fall of our junior year was one of confusion--no books, desks, or science laboraforiesg and yef wifhin a shorf fime we were esfablished in a daily roufine of school. Consfifiufions were drawn up and new fradifions were given careful fhoughf. When in fhe Fall of l950 we enfered fhe Crowell-Collier Maagazine Drive wifh an afhlefic score board as our goal, we placed firsf in all of Soufhern California. Almosf before we knew whaf had happened we were really seniors. Class colors, rings and sweafers, decals, commencemenf and graduafion commiffees.
