Different conditions are tackled as challenges. New ideas, creativeness, and re- sourcefulness are more evident than ever. Some chose that of an artist, while others chose that of a note through a song. Here at L.H.S. we have many people, who have chosen the latter, and they are the people who compose our music department. Not only do they inject spirit at various school functions, but they also entertain us in a more meaningful and lasting manner. Under the direction of Steff Sanvik, Stage Band, Sym- phonic Band, and Concert Band kept a timely beat through the Mid Winter, Spring, and Pops,' con- certs. Music allures the senses and often gives the in- dividual a special feeling, and the students of Lynn- wood appreciate the special feeling our music depart- ment has given us. Along with our instrumental department, we have an excellent vocal department under the direction of Larry Luke. Along with directing orchestra, he also directs Chorus, Chamber Choir, Concert Choir, and the Chan- tels, the top jazz singing group. In addition to per- forming at assemblies and concerts, they also go on tour and this year made trips to Canada and Idaho. Lynnwood certainly has something to be proud of in their music department. rchestr J., .,.. 3 A A Concert Choir 6-77 FLOWER FOR ALCERNON tells the story of Charlie Cordon, the willing victim of an un- usual experiment, Funny, tragic, but with a touch of hope for the spirit of a man in search for himself. M, 'df' ..1:'i'W 2nd Semester Student Senate Officers The Student Senate has been working hard this year to make the school run more efficiently. They have been working under a new constitution and have succeeded in bringing a break mod to LHS. This yearis Student Senate finally put an end to the decorative bit of painting that has been a part of the north side walk. The function of the Student Senate is to oversee all other club activities. This year though without time management, a sixth mod, or an activity period, it has become a year of demise for many of our fine clubs at a loss to both the students and the community. For example, work help to senior, citizens, spon- sorship of adopted children, tutoring, FBLA, Medics, Pep Club, Varsity Club, Alpine Club, Dance Club, Import-Export Club, German Club and the Royal Gazette are no longer a part of our lives here at LHS. As the season went on, they began playing with more confidence and enjoyment. This has not been true of the Laureate Staff, but only because we had the privilege of first hand contact and dealing with these fine business people and patrons. They made our yearbook a reality. And if it helps at all, we want them to know that there will come a moment, perhaps this summer or sooner, when all the messages will have been read and re-read and with nothing to do, the ad- vertising section will finally receive the notice of which it is so deserving. It is the sincere hope of this advisor that when this time occurs that each of you will take notice of those people in your business community who cared and in turn will return the support.
