Who says wrestling and football are the only physical sports at Lynnhaven Junior High? Certain- ly not anyone involved with the girls soccer team. With their combination of talent and ag- gression , the Lady Blues again proved their strength in the Perkins. BLUES GIRLS SOCCER 1985-86 TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS 1986-87 school year. They prac- ticed daily, rain or shine, on soc- cer skills, callisthenics, and ran miles and miles on the track. The players on the field depend- ed on each other as well as the faculty, students, and the play- ers on the sidelines. Despite all the obstacles they have had to overcome, the Lady Blues have come a long way and should be congratulated on their determi- nation as they continue to build a powerful soccer team here at Lynnhaven Junior high. 166 BLUES BOYS SOCCER You sit in the first soccer meeting wondering to yourself, ttCan I best him? or How skilled is he? . After weeks of training on your own, the tryouts finally begin. Mr. Disharoon pulls you out on your own to examine your soccer skills. Your task may seem simple at first, yet it always seems that he can find something wrong with your performance. Just when you think you will have to wait one more year to prove your ability you see your name on the cut list. Finally, you have made it through tryouts and are a member of the Blues soccer team. BLUES BASEBALL A hush fell over the crowd as the slugger stepped up to the plate with a confident stride. He knew what he had to do. It was the bottom of the ninth, the bases were loaded, and his team was down by three. It was the final game of the season. If they could only pull it out everything would be okay. It was up to him. He shifted his stance and gripped the bat more tightly. The two immovable forces were at a stand-off. And then, the pitch. Baseball is a tradition at Lynnha- ven Junior High. As spring comes the anticipation of per- sonal glory brings many a hope- ful to try out for the team.
