160 BLUES WRESTLING Football season was over and our athletic spirit was slipping away with each day of what I re- fer to as the Hmid-year slump . However, Lynnhaven sports fans had not to fear. Wrestling, the most popular of the winter sports, was quickly approaching along with its undying enthusi- asm. Little did we know it, but in the long weeks preceding the first match, the 1986-1987 Lynn- haven wrestling team sweated it out during practice to prepare for another winning season. The team was coached by Mr. Stokes, who carried the Blues through an even season of 4 wins and 4 loses. At the city championships, nine of our wrestlers placed out of fifteen weight classes. Leading the team was 175-pound Andy Miller who ended the season with elev- en straight pins. Not far behind were Curtis Goetel with six pins, and Jim Metcalfe who shut out seven opponents. The biggest upset of the year came when Marc Fuleihan, who was highl favored to win the city title, was injured and could not finish th season. Front row: John Cistola, Mike Valerio, Doug Hamm John Weidner, Chad McPhatter; Row 2: Gary Felch, Eric Page Dustin Cheatham, Jim Metcalfe, Denny Hedspeth, Jeremy Ingram; RowIS: Mr Stokes, Jeff Blaylock, John Hartz, Fred Franks, Curtis Goetel, Chan Bolster, Andy Miller, Kevin Zarletti, Mark Fuleihan.

The Lady Blues weren't just good, but better yet, a fantastic team. Although we lost a few of our first away games, that all soon began to change. We came back on a winning streak, not to win city championship , but the tournament championship. We ended up with a good strong re- BLUES GIRLS' BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT CHAM PIONS cord at the end of the season of 10-5. The girls played an excel- lent season. They never really tried to play as individuals, but they worked together as a team. Their fancy team work and deter- mination to win was what their game was all about. Congratula- tionsll Front Row: Mindy Cloyes, Michelle Serrano, Julie Nestor, Keri Ringenbach, Stephanie Hewsome, Karen Canaday, Jennifer Morrison; Row 2: Jill Walters, DiDi Smith, Ashleigh Hill, Rhonda Kash, Jennifer Butler, Mandy Hogan, Sara Field, Kris Rosignolo, Julie Cruit, Kelly Hood, Melissa Chafee, Katie Chivarinni, Ashley Bolen.
