Cheerleaders As the class of 1957 close the doors of E H S behtnd them memortes of three wonderful years remarn Of course we had an occastonal warnrng notr e a few Blue Mondays but by far the aood tlmes outnumbered the bad When we thtnk of these great ttmes they seemed to have been center d around tae exctttng football basketball hockey and baseball games We ve seen team after team and heard much pra se for all but how about tnat otaer team? You may ask what otner team? Well the Fernmtne Fourteen Nao caeered and suffered laryngttts as tae boys swept to anot'1er vtctory On tfns squad of exuberant young ladtes we ftnd as co captatns Rosanne Cronrn Sand a Daye and Barbara Panner Followmg these t'1ree come tne sentor m mbers Carol Forbes Patrtcra McManus Maureen McKeown Maureen M K nna Ioan Berd Ltnda Nrcholson Paula Dtaz and ludy Eagan From the realms of the tumor class come loan Ostedt and Buth Ann Archer and last but not least Ellen Goodwtn our lone sophomore epresentattve Durrng the eventful school year t'1e cheerleaders lecl the annual Taanks gtvtng Day rally and put on a sktt rm tattng the football squad In rolled the basketball season and agarn the gtrls were seen n full red and gray regalta What thrtlls what excttement as the rah raft grrls cae red for thetr hoop squad rn nerghbortng towns and ftnally rn Boston Ga den Well tt s sad to thtnk that our heermg days are over and that we ll never wear the red and gray agarn but deep rn our hearts we ll keep the ol sptrrt Boll on you Bulldogs ludy Eagan Feethall Thts year s team led by tts co captatns Frank Laurtno and George Lund stedt had a tremendously successful season ftntshtng thrrd rn the state N tn a 6 l 2 record Symboltc of tnts team was Btll Maaoney posstbly tue smallest player rn the league but holdtng down the toughest and most rmportant posttton Fred Boberts Oscar Arslantan and Henry Butch Brchards Nere the auards None mtnatron Our three tackles Al Casey Ed Monterunas and B uce Savory and one of our ends Brom Cook are the type of fellows wno never get tftetr names tn tne paper but wtthout whom there would be no team At the other end was co aptatn Lundstedt an all star end and an out standtng defenstve player ln the backfreld we had as blocktng back Al Cook a brg soltd blocker Paul Gaudet an excellent blocker on the wtng Lorne Ttppy lonnson every body s all star and all Amerrcan Trp provtded Bulldog fans w th tnnumerable thrtlls and tremendous exhtbtttons of runnrng Frank Laurtno our otner all star co captatn was a powerful runner and devastatrng blocke Tnree fellows who bolstered our defenstve untt not tncluded tn ou often srve team were Al Clark Dave Armstrong and Matt Carrrngton Al and Dave both brg and strong were mamstays tn our good but somewnat erratt front wall and Matt was a defenstve halfback To leave out the names of fellows llke Phrl Wtlltams Vrn l..1mauro Charhe Angeramo Bob Comeau Dom Sertno Bob Sayers Tarky Mower would be unforgtvable Who can forget tne ooentng Salem w1n t'te Beve ly game 13 potnts b htnd wtth three mtnutes to go and tytng tae s o e me unforaettab e d na dona battle wrtn Lawrence posstoly trte g eatest Bowl battle ever he heart breakrng loss to Peabody rn whtcn tnree potnts made t'1e dtfference between an undefeated season the comeback mn aga nst Saugus battl na back to t1e the Greater Boston power Newton tae smasntng vtctory over Nasrrua at Nashua the maultng handed to Bevere and as a fttttng cltmax to a great season gtvlng our tradrttonal rtval Classtcal the second worst beatrna eve handed out tn the long htstory of tne serres George Lundstedt , .
