Officers come up with a stereo for the lunch room. , The City of Lynden’s second and third street lights start blinking! Lynden, Lynden Christian, Blaine, and Meridian, qualify for District Basketball Tourney. Silver Shoe Award is handed down from “‘Eigey”’ to Garth Allen. With a 15 round decision, Leon Spink takes the World Boxing Championship from Ali. Under the guidance of Mr. Top, the F.F.A. puts together an Animal Farm for the Fisher School students. Lynden, Lynden Christian, and Darrington—In That Order—“‘On to State!” District Champs!! February 24 “Will you—Carol, Doris, Cheryl, Sheila, and Carol take 1978 Prom thee; Randy, Reggie, Brent, Polo, and Rick—In Any Order—till death do you part?” We will all be rooting for you on June 18th at the Kingdome John, Congratulations! SMASH ‘EM!! February 27 March 3 Jake reaches his 400th win, and in Tacoma. March 4 W.S. Cougars outplay the U.W. Huskies in a score of 57 -52. March 9 Debbie Strom is selected to the Girls County All-Star Basketball team. March 28 NCAA Winners-Champion: Kentucky, then follows: Duke, Arkansas, and Notre Dame. April 1 The entire Lynden Christian Student Body is suspended for skipping Chapel. Happy April Fools Day! April 3 ANNIE HALL is named Picture of the Year. April 3 Jake Maberry is named Whatcom County Coach of the Year. April 18 Added to the Lunch Menu: Salads at 25¢ or 35¢. April 22 “Grandpa Walton’’, Will Geer, passed away after playing a main character in the t.v. show, THE WALTONS. April 24 Schippers announces the opening of their Recreation Center this week. April 28 Special thanks goes to Carol Rodney and her helpers for putting together a special night at the Holiday Inn, the Jr.-Sr. Prom. Jake—Coach of the Year. May 4 Daryl, Ron, Garth, Brian, and Keith get kicked out of the May 13 The State of Washington asks that Bernie Reynolds be removed from the position of Whatcom County Sheriff. May 17 Senior cars which are supposed to be parked in the school parking lot seem to be diminishing more and more every day. June 1 Eighty-seven students graduate from Lynden High School. June 7 After winning the Western District Play-Off against the Denver Nuggets, the Seattle Sonics went on to lose the World Championship (3-4) to the Washington Bullets.
