Superintendent Mr. Ben Boxum Looking Back On A New Beginning Your yearbook theme implies that at a very specific, particular time something changed in your life and from that point on things are different than before. If you could remember when you took your first step, that indeed was a new beginning of perambulation for you. You could look back on that beginning. Seniors, can look back to commencement as a point of reference in time. It makes a new beginning in their lives - a time of leaving high school days and a beginning of new responsibilities. Beginnings can be anticipated or feared, depending on their nature. In our country there is such as increased amount of anxiety among young people that the National Institute of Mental Health has made the study of adolescent stress a priority. One of the main factors ca using this stress, is the constant changes or beginnings that bombard the young people. What can be done to help? The “authoritie s” say each must be in touch with a person who gives a meaning to life, who gives a sense of fixity and who tells the person that he or she matters. Isn’t that something? That’s exactly where Christian instruction comes in. It points to God the Creator of whom scripture records—“In the Beginning God created the heavens and the earth” and to Jesus Christ of whom it is written - “If any person is in Christ, that person is a new creature: old things are passed; behold all things are become new.” If you have experienced that new beginning, then you can and should indeed look back so you will have the foundation from which you can view all other new beginnings in your life. In His Grace, Ben H. Boxum, Superintendent
