The perform - ance was a combination of two musicals Our Country 'Tis of Thee and I Love America . The 1st half of the program was an historical sketch of America while the 2nd half was a tribute to America. The hours of hard practice were well worth it, making the musical a huge success, “COLOR MY WORLD” JR-SR BANQUET The Juniors once again had suc- cess in pleasing the Seniors within the limits of the chapel walls. Much ef- fort went into displaying the theme Color My World and it was well brought out in every detail of the ban- quet. The guests were first served punch by Steve VandenBos, Adri DeHoog, Jay Meeboer, and Val Gunst. Then everyone got a chance to walk thru the impressive entrance- a large symbol of the world gave the feel of journeying to the center of the earth. After emer- ging from the world, colorful rainbows could be seen stretched from stars hanging on the walls. After eating, Doug Polinder and Terry Kaemingk faked by as MC's, Joani Meyer completed the theme by singing Color My World . Mr. Bill Swinburnson then entertained for a short time. All agreed the best part came last when Jim Bolden and his band gave their all in a great show ¢ musical talent. A good deal of thanks is given te the Juniors of 1976 for working so ha to give the Seniors a great banquet ¢ an added memory of the time spent LCHS, “LYNCS MAKE HISTORY” ES PORTS BANQUET On May 11 the members of the Pep Club once again honored LC's athletes at the All Sports Banquet. OFFICERS: Kris Meyers- Secretary Treasurer; Marlene Mans- Vice President; Mr. Hendricks-Advisor; Doug Polinder- AMERICAN FIELD SERVICE Dear Friends at Lynden Christian: The most exciting day of this year was when I left to go to the U.S. It was a normal Sunday for a lot of people, but very special for me. I was crying when I said good-by to my family, but I was happy at the same time. I always thought that if I came it is because God wanted me to come and learn all the things of life here. Now that I have been here for a year, I truly have learned a great deal. Being away from home isn't always easy, but many of you have tried to make my home away from home, enjoyable. Maybe sometime you'll get the chance to go abroad, meet so many people and have as many nice experiences as I had here. I appreciate the opportunity Lynden Christian has given me to attend your school and be part of the AFS program. I would like to thank the teachers for being so helpful and courteous to me. I hope you can come and visit me in Bolivia. I'll be waiting for you. Good-by, God bless you. Sincerely, Eliana Inza Alarcon Casilla 1998 Santa Cruz Bolivia. SOW tN) DADAM OM eM N!— KF LOlolalN é _ { aati 89 ‘ RS SS PSE, A SILLS EEE OG GE TE SUPERINTENDENT OF LYNDEN CHRISTIAN DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED Days of future (for the school year '75-'76) are passed! ey Big deal? Not necessarily. Sad deal? Yes, for some = _ because you enjoyed '75-'76. Happy deal? Yes, for ys ® some, You disliked '75-'76, or you want to progress toward life's goal. Good! But let's look at that theme again. This is the year of our Nation's 200th birthday. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. Approximately 73,000 days of the Future Passed since our nation's birth. MR BEN B OX UM Those attending her birth are remembered in history : books, their former presence marked by graves. Yet, 73,000 days ago they sensed the seasons, laughed, cried, dreamed, and mused over what might become with the passing of their future. Really, ''Days of Future Passed is a unique way of saying, History . Scripture teaches how it started, how it will end, and what we are to do with our small part of the Days of Future Pass(ing),. One beautiful example is in Deuteronomy 32. Moses, God's spokesman says Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations; ask your father, and he will show you; your elders, and they will tell you. When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when He separated the sons of men, He fixed the bounds of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God. For the Lord's portion is His people. Imagine that! God fixes bounds--God plans History! You are part of His plan-either willingly in Jesus Christ or unwillingly, outside of Him. In Christ, the passing of the future holds no fears-without Him, ONLY fear, Days of Future Passed -what an insightful theme! May it stimulate secure thoughts because you know the God of all the Days of Future Passed , Grave on thy heart each past 'red letter day'! | Forget not all the sunshine of the way By which the Lord hath led thee; answered prayers, And joys unasked, strange blessings, lifted cares, Grand promises-echoes! Thus thy life shall be One record of His love and faithfulness to thee. Poet Havergal spoke wisely. _ God bless you as you live in the Days of Future Passed”. Sincerely yours in Christ, Ben H. A LETTER FROM THE EDITOR The student body of Lynden Christian will remember the 75-76 school year in many ways. It's been a year of celebrating both our nation's 200th birthday and the victory of the State Championship. Yet it was a year of sadness with the death of our teacher, Mr. Bill DeHoog. Being editor has been a real experience for me. There were times when | actually won- dered ifI was going tomake it, but now that it's finished and I look back at the year I'm really glad I was given this opportunity. At this time I'd like to especially thank the following people: First of all my advisor Mr. Hof for all the times he had to put up with me and the encouragement he gave me. To the staff, especially JoAn Kiel, for all the ideas and hours spent to help make this Excelsior a success. To Gale Johnson of Donnette Studio for his outstanding photography. And to Mr. Gordon Meeske, photographer of WIAA, for the much needed pictures of the State Championship game. And so in closing I'd like to present to you the 1976 Excelsior, a part of our Days of Brenda Uanderpol ay eee MAO aphiy PG soa ” Ve, CM Nya, bid, WP t 2, IE GHELMES but ad. re lya ¢ t 2.
