Foreward The word “Freedom” appears on almost every page of American History, for from the docking of the May- flower to the capture of the Pueblo, men have worked, struggled and died so that freedom could survive. Un- fortunately, freedom has been abused as men have tried violence, destruction and misconduct to exercise theirs’. The theme of the ‘68-69’ Excelsior is Freedom. Its purpose is to review the freedoms which we exercised throughout the year at Lynden Christian High. Though we were not aware of it as we engaged in busy routines and gay activities, we have exercised freedom, not because we have fought for it but because God has given it. We have enjoyed political freedom by which we could enjoy and develop other freedoms, and with them we have defined our own course of high school life by choosing and rejecting the opportunities given us. Yet most important is the freedom we have in Christ — not a freedom to do as we will, but a freedom from man’s greatest bondage. While men have fought to possess an artificial, temporary freedom, we as Chris- tians can be comforted and strengthened by knowing that we have a genuine, unchanging, eternal freedom.
