Superintendent Mr. Ben Boxum l O Time--God's Gift, Man's Responsibility In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth, Gen. 1:1. There is the record of when time began. God gave it, in the beginning along with all His creation and He declared it to be good. God is not subject to this gift. God is eter- nal--from age to age the same. A thousand years to God is as one day and one day as a thousand years. By saying this, the Bible teaches that God is eternal, infinite, not sub- ject to time. You and l are creatures of time. We put clocks on our walls and strap watches to our wrists, print calendars and schedules, all to tell us what time it is. After making time, and placing man in it, God tells us to use it. The time l have given you, God instructs us, use to subdue the earth. Indeed, time is God's gift and it is our responsibility. Eccl. 3:1 teaches us that. . . to every thing there is a season and a time to every pur- pose under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die . . . How much time do you have? Only God the giver of it knows this. Maybe three- score years and ten or even fourscore years. But our time will end. We can't add one minute to our time, we can't speed it up, or slow it down, or recapture even a second of it once it is past. Every tick of the clock records another second of time gone for- ever. But someday time will end for each of us. There is a time to be born lin timel and a time to die and with death our time is up. Just as your high school days are over, so everything you do has a time limit placed upon it. What you do with God's gift of time will determine how you will spend eter- nity. One thing you must do, my senior friend, while there is still time is to make sure that the Christ in whose name this school is founded, is your personal Savior. The time for salvation is today--ll Cor. 6:2, Behold, now is the accepted time: behold now is the day of salvation. When time ends, eternity begins. Look well to your God-given responsibility today. Sincerely, Ben H. Boxum, Supt.
