Superintendent Mr. Ben Boxum To The Graduating Class of 1965: Do you remember the delightful story from your childhood about the three pigs who were house builders? One built a house of straw and the wolf blew it downg the second built of sticks and experienced the same fateg the third built of bricks and no matter how hard the wolf huffed and puffed, the house remained firm. At Lynden Christian, this year has been one of major house building. You have viewed with admiration the practical yet beautiful new high school building under construction--no shoddy house of straw or sticks--by no means! Carefully selected materials chosen by a special building committee make up this structure. But a Christian school is much more than sticks or bricks. A Christian school is dedica- ted to build young people for the future in a very unique sense. For time, yes--for instruction in how to make a living, certainly--but foremost, to help youth think God's thoughts after Him, to lead maturing young people into all truth, to cause them to know that there is no area of truth and real knowledge that is separated from Christ who is himself the truth, the way and the life. The cornerstone of the new Christian School building must be of good quality. But the corner stone of the Christian School as an institution must be jesus Christ. It is said of Abraham in Hebrews 11:10 that he looked for a city which hath foundations whose builder and maker is God. God forbid that it should be said of us that we who are building for the future should be guilty of reject- ing the Stone which in reality is the head of the corner. Unless the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it. You graduating seniors, remember the Christian School that, by the grace of God, helped prepare you for the future, and the future of futures. For other foundations can no man lay than that is laid which is Christ jesus. I Cor. 3:11. Are you, my senior friend, building for the future? Yours in Christ, Ben Boxum.
