Treasurerg Willis Helder, Treasurer. STANDING: Graduating Class of 1962, This is a challenging age in which we are living. Man, by the Grace of God, has achieved the goal of placing an astronaut in orbit around the earth. Science has taken the foreground in Edu- cation and in today's thinking. However, we must also, at this time of Graduation, reflect on the past. You have completed your work at Lynden Christian, and as you further pursue your education, or your life's work,wil1 you, in another sense, reflect to others your Christian training? This is also an age of challenge for the Christian, to be sure, as you go forth from here. Basic to this challenge is your obliga- tion of reflecting the image of your Creator to those with whom you come in contact. Congratulations, and may God richly bless you in the future. INKHKYSX sm' x -1-X X Superintendent To the GRADUATING CLASS OF 1962 That means you, Mr. and Miss Senior! Yet by the time your eyes scan this page, you shall no longer be a senior, but a graduate. Things are never quite the same after you graduate. You will return to school functions and events, but it will be different. Once you have taken the long walk down the aisle, extended the left hand for the diploma, the right hand for the congratulatory hand shake, trans- ferred the tassle of your cap from the left side to the right, it will never be quite the same again. Then you will want to take this fine Excelsior and pause for Reflections. What a well chosen theme. School annuals are made for just that reason. Years from now, you will pull this book from the shelf and Reflect . It would be interesting to know what visions this reflec- tion will conjure. No doubt there will be a mixture of emotions, some hilarious, some sober, some sad. Actually you are one living page of all the annuals that ever were or shall be produced at Lynden Christian. You will reflect in some way, the teaching and admoni- tion you have received here. You may go on from this point in your life to the highest peak of human success, but you will reflect to others your earlier training. You may stop learning when you leave these halls, and that 9 will really be deterioration in a sense, and you will be reflecting an attitude of I know everything that's worth knowing. You may openly rebel against what you have learned here, and attempt to rid it from your mind, or even grow bitter against it, then you will be reflecting the picture of one who seeing, saw not, and hearing, heard not. In any case, you are a living page reflecting your attitude toward and your response to the teaching you have received at Lynden Christian. God enjoins us to reflect when he says: Be Still, And Know That I Am God . If you know that, really know that, and pattern your life accordingly, the reflec- tion you cast will be a beautiful one, because you will be a reflection of the Perfect Original. God grant that you may reflect with joy through the medium of this annual, that you may reflect with eager anticipation and calmness of spirit in the perennial Word God has giveng that you may cast a God honoring reflection upon those who view you as a living page from the annual your associates will see in you. Blessed and happy reflections to each of you! Yours in Christ, Ben H. Boxum
