9 uperin fenvlenf 5 essage To The Class Of '5S: You are products of the year of three-phase rockets and of satellite launching. May I liken your graduation to being launched into orbit? Do you mind being called a little moon? To be successfully launched into orbit is indeed an achievement worthy of acclaim. Congratulations are in order to you and your parent and teacher launchers. But just in what respect are you now in orbit ? Not in the sense that now life becomes a perpetual smooth glide in space. You are not in orbit as a robot man, the object of one treme'ndous push and then floating about on the mysterious interaction of physiral and spiritual forces over which you have no control. To the graduate of a Christian High School, the key to being properly in orbit is found in your well chosen class text: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom. The beginning of wisdom is not to be likened to the first phase of the rocket motor, or even the three phases of launching mechanisms. The beginning of wisdom must rather be thought of as being the essence, the first principle, the most important part of wisdom. Thus, the fear of the Lord becomes the very core of the propelling power by which you are sent off into life, and by which the entire orbit of your life is given continuing force and constant direction. Graduates, cherish the fear of the Lord in your hearts. Only in this way will your lifels orbit continue in strength and richness. Only on the basis of true fear of the Lord can you expect the orbit of your life to continue on into an eternity of fellowship and praise with our Heavenly Father. On the other hand the orbit of a young life not based on the fear of the Lord can only result in gradual decline and ultimate failure like a disintegrated Sputnik. So, young people, cherish the Fear of the Lord in the way the hymn says: 0 how I fear Thee Living God. With deepest, tenderest fearsg And -worship Thee with trembling hope Yours in His Service, And penitenthzl tears. MARK VANDER ARK

Dear Graduation Class of 1958, The Lynden Christian School Board extends to you, graduation class of 1958, its heartiest congratulation. May the Christian education given here be hallowed to your hearts. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. This is a beautiful verse for a graduation class to choose. It is not only reasonable that graduates of a Christian High School fear God but it is advantageous to you. It is wisdom, it will dire-ct you to speak and act as becomes you. It is the head of wisdom. That is as we read it. It is the beginning of wisdom. Men can never begin to be wise till they begin to fear God. Class of 1958, it is the boards sincere desire that each and every one of you fear God and be truly wise. The school board, Edw. F. Kok, president

The Student Council of 1957-58 with Mr. Vander Ark as advisor and with the wonderful cooperation of the Student Body has enjoyed working for and with the students of Lynden Christian High. The Student Council's first task in guiding student activities was to put on the Mixer by which students became better acquainted. We then appointed members to take care of chapel services and schedule assemblys. As our basketball season approached the Council elected team managers, supervised the election of cheer leaders, and sold student body tickets. Noo'n hour activities and the school paper were also initiated by the Council. At the end of the school year, all the students were i-nvited to the school party, letters and awards were given for sports and various other activities, and the election of Student Council officers for the following year was held. The Student Council wishes to exte'nd a word of thanks to the Student Body for their coorieration in making the year 1957-58 a successful one. ORVILLE VANDER GRIEND, President
