As we Seniors, the class of 1954, stand on the threshhold of a new period of our lives, we pause for a moment to look back over our past. In the year of 1950 as humble freshmen, we entered the halls of Lynden Christian High. under the leadership of Mr. De Jong. We soon became acfguainted with the life of a High school student. The Mixer made us feel at home but we still had new experiences such as examinations and a new study routine. But we did have fun that year. The next year, 1951, we were sophmores. And how big we felt! For we realized that we were no longer the youngest class in school. As the year went by our bigness vanished for we were still only underclassmen. We were kept in check and guided by our homeroom teachers, Mr. Engbers and Miss Shoemaker. The next September of 1952, we returned to find ourselves as upperclassman. Then we did feel big, only there were still those Seniors, but they didn't worry us, or did they? We got along with them as best as we could. That was an important year in our career, for we had the privilege of giving the Junior-Senior banquet. We all worked hard with Mr. De Boer, our homeroom teacher, to make it a success. We also received our class rings. How proud we were of them, even though some found their way to one of the opposite sex. Finally after our vacation, we entered the halls of Lynden Christian, as mature Seniors, rulers of everyone with the exception of the teachers. These last nine months of our career in school were filled with fun, worries, and achievements. Many of our members, brought glory to our class. One of our members won first place in the Voice of Democracy con- test, in Bellingham. Others brought honor in debating, sports, dramatics, and in various clubs. The closing months of school were filled with fun such as our class party and Senior Outing. And then that final grnad closure of ourhighschool career, GRADUATION and we are now ready to take our stand in the world. A Q QMS J I ,ff I ff l uflfllw 41 -4- ACTIVITIES In our climb for higher heights there are activities in which we engage. NX-xnxx Our chapel service is one of the most important of these. Our chapel ser- xx... vices and choruses give us opportunity to glorify God in the singing of His praises and the hearing of His word. Talents among the climbers can also be displayed in such activities as debate and the paper and annual staff. - Many of our activities give us an opportunity for rest and meditation as every climber must have. It is found in our weekly chapel service. The whole student body and faculty gathers for singing and hearing a short message. The students take part by leading the singing, rendering a special number and reading a portion of scrip- ture. Our message and prayer is given by a faculty member or an outside guest. This hour a week is certainly inspir- ing. It gives us new ideals for our Christian life and pro- vides an opportunity to praise our Almighty God and won- derful Savior. Mrs J.
