TO THE OFFICERS AND MEN OF THE LYNDE MC CORMICK: Upon our joining the U. S. SEVENTH Fleet, VADM G. P. STEELE, the Commander, indicated we would be tasked with a variety of challenging assignments which would test our readiness and also have periods of relaxation with interesting port visits. True to his word, our seven month deployment was certainly that and this cruisebook captures some of those moments , The cruise was a highly successful one in material condition and operational increased and our commitments were ful in fleet exercises and operations incl destroyer duties and comprised amphibi submarine and anti-air warfare and con with the Republic of China. These evo day performance were marked with utmos which drew warm praise from our senior credit upon yourselves and LYNDE MC CO wherein our readiness expertise steadily ly met. Participation uded every aspect of ous operations, anti- ducting joint exercises lutions and our day to t professionalism s and reflected great RMICK. While serving as squadron flagship and when visited by COMSEVENTHFLT, COMTHIRDFLT and the Secretary of the Navy, our ship was complimented for both performance and appearance, To successfully operate and maintain a ship like the LYNDE MC CORMICK, it requires a tremendous team effort and loyalty which was fully shared by all hands. Over 300 officers and men joined in the manning of watch and battle stations, repairing and maintaining machinery and sophisticated electronics equipments and the replenishment of food and parts . Our visits in ports of call were no less exemplary and out of thousands of individual liberties no incident marred the record. So as you look through these pages and recall those memories, I would like all of you to know that I am forever grateful to your superlative efforts and support, and feel deeply privileged to have sailed along with you. 7 4 v-i m H.
