In April and May, LYNDE MCCORMICK operated in the Sea of Japan in the vicinity of North Korea as a part of Task Force 71. The Task Force was formed within hours following the shooting down of a NAVY EC-121 'Constellation' aircraft by a North Korean Air Force fighter. Task Force 71 was a formid- able force of Aircraft Carriers, Cruisers, and Guided Missile and general purpose Destroyers. Although no further hostile actions occurred, we were-under constant surveillance by the Communists.
