THE 1974 BULLDOG v w VOLUME XVIII LYNCH HIGH SCHOOL LYNCH, KENTUCKY 1 FOREWORD It ' s enough to be alive at Lynch High School ... to feel the ecstasy of a coveted victory, to share the agony of a failing grade, experience the joy of a friend ' s success, just to be a part of it all! During the years , every moment that greeted LHS students during the school day , and even after school , became prized moments . Sharing a coke during the break , rushing madly to beat the bell , being first to find the answer in class . . . these were the simple things we enjoyed . In years to come , as we look back , will we remember these things? Will we recall the good times , shared laughter that came from such simple things? There is something special about every passing moment at LHS , and about every student and teacher at LHS . And to these special students and teachers we , the 1974 BULLDOG STAFF , present this simple , but special yearbook ... to those who are happy with the simple things ! CLASS HISTORY WITH COMMON GOALS, and common longings, we laughed, we loved, we played, we won. These were our school days , our happy days . They were real because we made them real . They existed because we were alive . . . Our Freshman year began with the election of class officers: Class President was James Slusher, Charlotte Jackson was Vice-President, and Kennetha Brown was Secretary -Treasurer. Class Favorites were Lynn Baker and Jeff Ratchford . A little green at first, we placed six members on the football team. B Team Cheerleaders were Dotty Mackey , Lisa Gilbert , and Lynn Baker . Our class also boasted six members on the bas- ketball B Team. Forrest Pearson made A Team. Representatives in the Student Council were Lisa Gilbert and Mossie Coleman . We had only 6 in the Garden Club and 6 in Chorus , but we overran the FHA with 21 members! There were 11 Freshmen in the band. Freshman Honor Student was James Slusher . As Sophomores, our greenness was withdrawn, and replaced by Gold and White. We wore these colors with pride , eager to take part in every activity in the high school . Class President was Forrest Pearson, Joy Wilder was Vice-President, Jeff Ratchford was Secretary, and James Slusher was Trea- surer. Cowboy Byron Hall and Drena Smith swept the popularity polls as class Favorites. We contributed 12 members to the 1971 State Class A runners-up in football. B Team Cheerleaders were Mossie Coleman, Dotty Mackey, Drena Smith, and Lisa Gilbert. Byron Hall joined Forrest Pearson on the A Team basketball squad, with 7 Sophomores leading the B Team. There were 4 Sophomores on the baseball team, and Lisa Gilbert was on the golf team. We sported 4 members on the Student Council , and our ' ' brains ' ' were evident as 19 Sophomores 6 were inducted into the Beta Club. There were 9 in the Speech and Drama Club as well as 9 in Cho- rus, and 4 in FHA. Jim Falls got it together in the Projection and Library Clubs and there were 8 class members in the band, with Judy Wier serving as Treasurer. James Slusher repeated as Honor Student . Time trucked on , and we were Juniors . Lisa Gilbert guided us through the year as President , aided by Frank Sizemore, Vice-President, Judy Wier, Secretary, and Sharon Petty grue, Treasurer. The dispositions of Lisa Gilbert and Jeff Ratchford gave them the honor of being class favorites. The Golden Bulldogs, Region IV, Class A runners-up, had 10 Juniors on their roster. A Team Cheerleaders were Mossie Coleman and Lisa Gilbert. Varsity basketball involved 6 Juniors, baseball 9 , and the golf team 2 . James Slusher was the annual staff representative , as well as the Honor Student for the third con- secutive year. Club participation increased, with 5 Juniors in FHA, 10 in FT A, 4 in the Library Club, 3 in the Projection Club, 8 in the Speech and Drama Club, 15 in the L Club, and 4 in the National Honor Society. Dotty Mackey was inducted into the Beta Club, and James Slusher and Frank Sizemore were representatives at Boys ' State, while Lisa Gilbert and Karen Garris went to Girls ' State. The Beta Club celebrated a major victory in electing Joey Vicini to the office of Ken- tucky State Vice-President. American History Awards went to James Slusher and Lisa Gilbert. Man Clark and James Slusher made the ALL- CVC team in football. While Forrst Pearson was placed on the ALL- 13th Region team in basketball. Around the corner are the unknown days of tomorrow . Who knows the future that they will bring? Do we fear these impending days? Or are we just afraid that we cannot relive the past? Ah, the past! Four Golden, glorious years; years that will never recur. Even more, these years contained for us in every fleeting moment , something special . . . something all our own ! 4 .TO I EARL DAVID BANDY Football 1-4; Basketball 1-2; Beta 2-4; L Club 2-3; Speech and Drama 3-4; FHA 4.
