We moan and groan when the doomsday letter arrives, saying that September is just around the corner fmill registration??? Oh no! Phone calls instead of notes? How does one forge a voice, anyway?j but there is also excitement in the air. New clothes and sleepless nights are spent wondering. . .will I fit in? The night before fthe only night you will ever already know exactly what you are wearing tomorrowj, is the worst and the alarm clock, still dusty, is set for six a.m. Then that day we've been waiting for has arrived. Freshmen, wearing brand new winter clothes -ml in 90 degree weather, are wandering helplessly around with maps wondering if it's an A day or a B day, and the Sophomores act as the guardians because they've just been through a whole year of degrading comments and are out for revenge, and the juniors are cool because they're veterans who have mastered the system, and they're bigger than just about everyone. . . except for the one and only God-like and majestic Seniors, who aren't even at school because they truly believe in tradition Qwho can get away with the most absences, or most realistically, who can forge the best.j This first day marks the

'fw ,fa beginning of a new life that will become full of new friends and experiences as we become a part of Lynbrook. It's always the same school, but we can tell it will be different. Instead of taking ten minutes to get lunch, it now takes thirty, and our new lockers seem to be in the same place as last year, except that now they won't even open.
