HAROLD BENSEN Bens As a man of all sports, Harold played varsity football, baseball, and hockey, and was one of the active members of Mr. Carr's wrestling team. To complete his curriculum, he was an energetic member of the Hi-Y. Business BERNARD BERTON Benny Benny was an original member of the handball team and was its first captain. His leadership and fine playing led to a successful season for the team. Benny also was a member of the Boys' Wrestling Team. Business NANCY M. BREEN Nan As a sophomore, Nan spent some of her after-school hours in intramural basketball, soccer, swimmin , and tennis. The next year she added bowling to the list. However, the sports that dominated her tlu'ee years at Lynbrook were hiking and skating. Traphagen School of Design Herb HERBERT BROCHARD As a versatile athlete, Herb played hockey, tennis, baseball, intra- mural and varsity football, and intramural basketball. He helped the seniors toward their goal by playing on the Class Night basketball team. Mr. Carr's radio club consumed the remainder of is time. Trip to California Rich ' RICHARD W. BRowER Rich was instrumental in bringing handball as a recognized ac- tivit to Lynbrook High School. He was an original member of the iirst team in 1935. Ellie ELEANOR F. BALDWIN Ellie's athletic rogram embraced varsity and Class Night basket- ball, intrarnurall tennis, and managership of the track team. She proved dependable in the Hi-Y, Dramatic, and Press Clubs, acting also as stage manager for both Junior and Senior Plays. Undecided Burt BURTON BASTEDO Burton played three successive years of intramural baseball and basketball, and one of football. But his interest was not confined to sports-he acted successfull in the Senior Play and served in the Chess Club, Dramatic Club, and Class Night. Business Billie LILLIE BAUM Before coming to Lynbrook, Lillie had specialized in a combi- nation of basketball, Glee Club, and editorship of the Far Rock- away High School paper. Here she continued a business course and took part in the work of the Press Club. N. Y. U. ARTHUR C. BENDER Mo Musically inclined, -Mo enjoyed his four years in the band and three with the orchestra. Arduous requirements of the drums in the two organizations still allowed him to play on the intramural football, basketball, and baseball teams. Juilliard School of Music EDWARD BENNETT Ben Leaving Central High School, Valley Stream, where he had been active in baseball, football and swimming, Ben entered Lynbrook High as a junior: In preparing for a business career he found bookkeeping his most absorbing subject. Brownie GEORGE BROWN Brownie went out for varsity basketball in 1935 and 1936, and for varsit baseball in 1936. He played on one of the boys' intramural basketball teams in 1934, and was on Class Night teams for the last two seasons. Business Marty Mkarm R. Bunnrcx Marty possessed a liking for athletic activities as well as for other tasks. From an athletic standpoint he cooperated to build up the Archery, Rifle and Bowling teams. He exercised his social interests in the Hi-Y Club. Webb I ml ilule Jim JAMES F. BURKE While he was in Lynbrook, Jim turned his attention to the Hi-Y Club. He was a supporter not only of the chapter in school, but also of the area council. His other interests were the Science Club, Class Night committees and checkers. Hotel Management DONALD D. CAMPBELL Don Don was kept busy in high school with a number of sports: intramural football, basketball, swimmin , fencing, ping pong and track. Moreover, he has a record og four years with the Rifle Club and two years with the Science Club. Colorado School of Mines MADELINE CAPPAHELLI Cap This young lady played girls' baseball and girls' intramural basketball for the entire four seasons. She was a member of the Press Club, and her Class Night activities included basketball and coat checking. Business l 15 l
