CLASS PROPHECY It is the year 2002 and the class of 1982 has come together for their 20th reunion. It is a very formal occasion with cocktails, mixed by Tom Morrow and consumed by Jon Bassette, served in the oval office of the nation’s new president Tim O'Kay. Scott Wilson, Tim’s vice, also doubles as part of the sanitation department. He has shot all of Tim’s over 2000 vetoes in the basket giving him a new record in his league. Michele Mussot took a leave of absence as Secretary of State to take care of her little Wilson babies, which were all born dribbling. John Valentine is sitting in a comer criticizing the music. He suggests for the next reunion he supply the music. Krista Yott rushes in the door trying to catch her breath and says, “It’s the Kiddie Korps they’re after me.” Bill Forness, as he was when he was a senior, is still in college. He tells everyone he has a Ph.D. in nearly every topic. Denise Piche, now president of the Dale Carnegie Corporation, is having a conversation with Amy Belcher. Amy learned how to listen as a psychologist. Denise is doing all the talking, isn’t that a switch. Tammy Pettey is talking about her new critically acclaimed book “The Happy Hairdresser.” Former student nurses Blythe Whattam, Lori Orvis, and Lorna Dollinger are running around trying to take everyones’ pulses. Mike Rickard and Tammy Darrow are talking. It seems as though Tammy is telling Mike about this distant planet she visits where redheads are worshipped. Steve Fields and Jim Hayes still live in Chaumont and are quibbling over who will pay for the gas. Barb Darrow and Dave Gosier were a little late, they had trouble finding a babysitter for their 14 kids. Chico Alvarado has become a tycoon. He has made a real killing selling underwear called Chico’s cheek covers. Amelia FitzPatrick is now starring in a soap opera called “Emma’s Dilemas.” The show is very successful and everyone is hounding her for her autograph. Kevin Thompson could not attend because his elves went on strike and he has to make toys for his journey on Christmas Eve. Sue Brown has now found out she was legal heir to Gramma Brown’s Baker Beans. She of course is sup- plying the vegetable entree for the dinner. Paul Fournier is sitting in a comer mourning over the loss of one of his model airplanes. He says this will slow dow n his plans to become a millionaire in his model airplane crop dusting service. Barry Shea could also not attend. He was busy making a new Washington monument. He really put his vocational schooling to work. Ginger Becker is still treasurer only now with the country and is running after Tim trying to tell him the party is 38c over budget. He ignores her and tells everyone to move into the formal dining room for the elaborate dinner planned. 17
