One such person is Mr. Bilkey Moore. The class of 81 takes great pleasure in dedicating this 1981 issue of the “Ontarion” to a man dedicated to his students. Mr. Moore is a master teacher with a sincere interest in the students of Lyme Central School. He carries this interest far beyond the norms of the classroom walls. His faith in the students as individuals is reflected and appreciated by all w ho are touched b his concern. We take pride in this dedication to him and offer our thanks for his endless hours of work as a teacher, ad- visor, confidante and most of all as a friend. L.C.S. Volleyball 1; Softball 2 16 Prophecy Twenty long years after our graduation, we are staging our class reunion. It is no coincidence it was scheduled dur- ing the space odyssey as our class was an odyssey in itself. One hundred million miles above the former location of Lyme orbits the space station in which our gala will be held. It took Mike Jones ten years to design our station, but with the multimillion commission he bought the station and operates the Latest Playboy Hotel. Inside the station the party is about to begin. A great jolt startles the partiers but not to worry. Stuart Ricketl materializes in the crowd and explains that his retro-rockets failed and he hit the space station. Kevin Calhoun is tending bar and surprisingly enough is doing all the talking instead of listening. Lisa Hayes is at the bar sipping a Coke and she’s actually listening to Kevin. She’s been waiting for twenty minutes to say, “Excuse me. I have to leave.” Eddie Perkins just fell down the stairs. He was outside welding the crack Stuart put in the station. He forgot his shield and can't see too well. Scott Mussot arrives in his “Speed of Light space wrecker with the Buiek in tow. He got halfway between Earth and Mars when the old 455 finally spit up the pistons. A shrill “MR. MOORE arises from the crowd. It seems Kathy Male found a fly in her coffee and insists Mr. Moore put it there. Bill Fish is already asking people for a ride home. It seems someone let the air out of his deflector shields. A loud roar followed by the whine of a space patrol car announces the arrival of the Paw lings. The officer says they were doing three times the speed of light in a sound zone. Vicki Leavitt arrives in a bright red dress and purple shoes. They were pre-wedding gifts. She is planning a mass wed- ding next year. Mike Rust was just thrown in an air lock. He fell asleep on the couch and we won't stand for party-poopers here. We notice two whip-antennae springing around. We tracked them down and found Greg Failing under them. It seems he has invented a C.B. unit to fit inside a baseball cap. He says he is talking to one of his good-buddies on Venus. Suddenly, shouts are heard coming from the foyer and we see Tina Orvis arriving milliseconds before a great mob of violent people. Oh, it’s only the Valentines. No need to worry, it’s like this all the time. Lisa Hills arrives late. She had trouble finding a sitter for her ten little Indians. A cloud of smoke arises amidst the crowd and the fire department is called to extinguish a small fire. Matt Revelle explains he didn't put the Bottle Rocket in the newspaper. It flew in by accident. Aha, time for the entertainment — a little rock-n-roll. Dave Berkman and The Low Riders. Dave formed the group a few years back and was an instant success. He has enjoyed multimillion dollar success but still can't get along with Lisa Hayes. Penny O’Brien is busy with her pocket computer figuring out the total cost of our reunion. “Oh, no,” she moans. “We’re 371 over budget. What shall we do?” While she frets, we all think of how much she reminds us of Mr. Moore. A crash of glass startles the crowd and a soccer ball rolls through the ball room. Scott Rickett peeks through the shattered window and sighs, It wasn't my fault, honest. It hit the cross bar and came back out.” Randy Stumpf has invited us out to the hanger area to see his new 10-rocket drive Ford Custom Space Ranger. He says it’ll do three quarters light speed and he can smoke the engine in dense fog. Barry Pete and Ray W right arrive with goofy grins on their faces. After ten minutes of explaining we find out they can only stay for an hour as they are affecting repairs on their ship, the “TMB Express”. Then they must finish their smuggling trip to the far side of the Universe. Mike Hines arrives late as he did at Lyme before graduation. Better late than never. Julie Brass is wandering around with three guys. She couldn’t make up her mind so she brought all three. Bill Scarpcchi is sitting off to the side with his box of Twinkies. He is now a great philosopher and does his best thinking with a Twinkie in his mouth. Everyone is now standing in a circle around the dance floor. Mary Kimmis is smokin' the soles off her shoes. She is showing us the dance she does in her new movie, “Tuesday Night Cold. Della VanAlstyne is still trying to arrange us in alphabetical order, just like a librarian. Todd Fleming just dropped in . . . literally. He was on the space deck mourning for his '69 Chevy Truck. He just heard one was sold for S37 million as an antique. Sylvia Raso will be a few days late for our two week party. Someone told her it starts next year. She didn't know they were kidding until a week ago. Mike wondered where Kenny Towne was. He was seen earlier but is nowhere to be found. After several minutes, Matt shouts, “I found him. He's in the sound room listening to Iron Butterfly and the latest from Detroit Iron . Now that all are present and accounted for, we can get down to some serious fun. LET THE GAMES BEGIN! 18 Class Will I. David Brrkman, leave my Quiet and Studiou.s image to David Cosier. I. After a shakey start, losing two games to Indian River and Harrisvile in the Christmas Tournament, the Indians came on strong and went undefeated in league play and in doing so captured the league and playoff titles. (16-0) The Indians have also reached the sectional finals and have a chance to con- tinue their success. The Highlight of the season was a double overtime victory over Belleville for the playoff title. The excitement, sportsmanship coopera- tion, determination and hardwork shown in that game was typical of this year’s team and it is hoped that this same spirit will continue in the years to follow. The team was led by Junior Standout Scott Wilson and Seniors Bill Scarpcchi, Mike Jones, Randy Stumpf, Scott Rickett and reserves Tom Morrow, Tim O’Kay and Paul Fournier. Ready Set Shoot INDIANS U JV BASKETBALL Coach Weaver The Junior Varsity Hoopsters had a fine season. They posted a 10-2 League record and an 11-3 overall record. The team reached its goal when they clenched the League Title with a win at Copenhagen. Until the last two games of the season, the young Indians were coasting along undefeated in League play. This year’s team was very unselfish with each member of the squad complimenting the others very well. With a tenacious defense and four out of the star- ting five averaging in double figures on offense, the op- position meet with more than it could cope with. Seniors Kathy Male (line), Sylvia Raso (halfback) Lisa Hills (halfback), and Vicki Leavitt (halfback) will be missed very much next year, along with newcomers Lisa Hayes and Mary Kimmis. Shelly Bevens, Jenny Revelle, and Jo White completed a strong forward line this year. Julie Wright and Lisa Hayes have been strong midfield backups this season, each with a goal in sectional play. The defensive end of the field was taken care of by Susan Male (right fullback), Krista Yott (center full), and Cherly Raso (left full). All of these girls will be returning next year. Marcia Pawling finished her 2nd year in the goal with 177 saves; only allowing 20 goals all season and recording 4 shutouts. Marcia also returns next year.
