“
We, the Class of 1976, wish to dedicate our yearbook to Mr. Bilkey Moore, a teacher who has been very important to us all through our jun- ior and senior high school years. His enthusiasm and his willingness to help us, both academically and in our extra-curricular activities, are greatly appreciated and will always be remembered. We dedicate this yearbook to you, Mr. Moore, for your devotion to the student body of Lyme Central School. The Class of 1976 TO THE CLASS OF '76 ((Lilnistkdlion Yours is a one-time honor, graduating the year of the bicentennial. You have spearheaded a championship team in basketball and soccer. For four years you have been leaders in a championship band. You have more class members as honor students than any class preceding yours. You have been instrumental in two winning stage productions. The standards you have set, the interest you have demonstrated in your school and commu- nity , the cooperation you have given, and your fidelity to duty will long be remembered and admired. It now behooves you to make similar bench- marks in your years ahead. We know you will. Good luck! CHARLES E. Voictionatt CSenio u 16 17 We began our high school years with Mr. Derefinko as our advisor. The next year, as sophomores, Mr. Buck was our advisor, and we had activities such as candy and magazine sales, dances, car washes and bake sales. Miss Southard was our junior advisor and our officers were as follows: President - Cathy Weiler, V. Pres. - Jack Benjamin, Secretary - Vicki Sager, Treas. - Janet Chavoustie. We raised money by selling candy, stationery, and refreshments at ball games. We also had our Junior Prom with Alan Bassette as King and Cathy Weiler as Queen. When we became Seniors Miss Southard again was our advisor. We held car washes, dances and sold buttons, pins and pom-poms. We sold individual school pictures, published the 1976 ONTARION and took a trip to Toronto, Canada during our Spring Vacation. Our Seniors Class officers were: Pres. - Cathy Weiler, V. Pres. Jack Benjamin, Sec. - Cherrie Mathieu, Treas. - Janet Chavoustie. Student Council Representatives - Martin Jones, Nora Hyde, and Darrel Fitzgerald. At some time during our high school years we have had the privilege of having the follow- ing people with us: Bill Allen, Dave Bourquin, Bessie Mayne, Richard Giltz, David Parker, Roxanne Best, Denise Dunn, Debbie Parker, Vicki Sager, Milford Haas, Victor Sweet, Ann Perotte, Steve Russell, Bruce Jackson, Patti Derouin, Richard Derouin, Kathy Kramer, Gary Benney, Janet Carr and Kate Callahan. Our Class Colors are Green + Gold, and Our Class Flower is The Daisy. Twenty years from now the Class of '76 will hold its reunion in the stone quarry, which has become a famous resort for all its former patrons. ALAN BASSETTE arrives in his Chrysler, nicknamed old faithful, and jumps out yell- ing, I’m here. I’m here! BERNADETTE BELLINGER is wearing elbow length gloves to the reunion because of a severe case of bedpan hands. Many paintings signed Quengi decorate the site of this reunion. JACK BENJAMIN claims to know the artist very well. ELLEN BRIMMER, a famous hair stylist, had offered to cut everyone's hair. She wants some experience with the new looks. JANET and JANICE CHAVOUSTIE, who recently signed a contract to promote dish wash- ing liquid, are showing their hands and asking us to guess which one is older. BRIAN COUNTRYMAN with his usual dry sense of humor, keeps yelling at the coke machine to give him a beer. CINDY CUPPERNELL is busy taking notes on all the activities of this reunion. She will later write an article to be published in her paper. RANDY DOLLINGER is really getting up in the world. He just arrived wearing shoes with 2 foot platforms. BOB DUNHAM, who had become business teacher at Lyme, will not be coming. He's doing his lesson plans. Since he always had a deep interest in toothpicks, WAYNE FAILING has his own toothpick factory and has brought a supply to this reunion. DARREL FITZGERALD has just come through the door bouncing a basketball and is yelling for everyone to get off the court. BOB MONICA, who has become CANDY FULMER'S Olympic trainer, arrives in his car. Several minutes later Candy comes running up, having jogged 50 miles. MARK HARE has put all his business courses to good use and set up a booth here, with a sign saying Hare's Hares sold Hare. TRACEY HEWITT combined her bookkeeping skills and the nickname Dick Tracey,” to become city auditor and is much too busy to attend this reunion. RICKY HILLS is displaying his skill as a Hollywood Stuntman by playing chicken with all the cars as they arrive. ANN HYDE, now a famous comedienne, has offered to provide some of tonight's enter- tainment. Because she is convinced that guinea pigs will become an important source of food, NORA HYDE has brought thousands from her farm to sell at the reunion. PERRY HYDE arrived in his 1958 Rambler and is in the process of trying to convince every- one that it’s a Rolls Royce in disguise. MARTIN JONES just drove up with a truck full of peanut butter sandwiches - his donation to the refreshment supply. CAROL LANG sends greetings to everyone. She cannot attend because she was unable to find a babysitter for her 12 kids. ROSANN KRAMER was finally convinced to come to this reunion after being promised that she could watch The Young and the Restless. MARY LARKIN is unable to come tonight. She is studying very hard in order to graduate from college after trying all these years. MICHELLE MATHIEU and DAN MARSH arrive late because Dan's old car isn’t running very well, as usual. CHERRIE MATHIEU, the new owner of Bayside, is taking advantage of this opportunity to hire girls to work in the stand. Dr. Welby's faithful assistants, TERESA O’NEILL and DEBBIE PLANTY, are running around checking everyone's blood pressure. JOHN RASO has just walked in and states that everything is Lookin' Good. ” BILL REFF arrives just in time to say hi” to everyone as they walk out the door, late as usual. CINDY RUST thinks she's still in the tavern and is proofing everyone. KATHY SVENDSEN has just arrived with her now-famous family, known as the second edition of the Rolling Stones. ” SCOTT SILVER is unable to attend this reunion because he got lost while hunting last week. We feel very honored to have KATHY THOMPSON here. She has become famous for her important medical advances such as disposable doctors. LINDA TRAINHAM just walked in with a comb in one hand and a pair of scissors in the other. Everyone is staying out of her way! CATHY WEILER is unable to join us. She is in the middle of her campaign for President of the United States. I, ALAN BASSETTE, leave my speed to Joe Bearup and my jumping ability to Malcolm Jones. I, MICHELLE MATHIEU, leave to Betty Davis the hope that she will get someone who means something special to her, as Dan does to me. I, TERRI O'NEILL, leave my curls to Dave Smith. People may find it easier to believe that he and Terry ARE brothers. I, DEBBIE PLANTY, leave to Yvonne Wilson my years of band experience and my position as captain to enjoy as much as I have. The Varsity Soccer Squad completed a highly suc- cessful campaign in 1975 completing a record of 11- 2 and capturing the Frontier League Championship. The team was led offensively by three All-Star line- men, Darrel Fitzgerald, A1 Bassette, and Bob Monica. All-Star defensive players included Joe Bearup at halfback and Malcolm Jones, Honorable Mention Goalie. Enthusiasm, team spirit and confidence in their own ability were the keys to the winning season. This was displayed in the crucial game with LaFargeville when the Indians beat the pre-season favorite, the Knights, 2-1, in overtime in the game that clinched the championship. The Indians entered the Section III Soccer Playoff and advanced to the semi-finals by beating Remsen of the Semonga League 5-3 before dropping a disap- pointing game to independent representative Otselic Valley 3-1.
