Lyme Central School LYME CENTRAL SCHOOL Chaumont, New York Dedication We, the class of 1964, proudly and respectfully dedicate this issue of the “Ontarion” to Miss Pearl Congdon. Miss Congdon was our first grade teacher, and we were her first class at L.C.S. We feel that she deserves a great deal of credit for giving us the inspiration to meet life straightforwardly. We know that her inspiration will help us to persevere throughout our lives. 7n Tltemonam ARTHUR LaGRAY 1945-1959 “But O for the touch of a vanish’d hand, And the sound of a voice that is still!” We feel that these words by Tennyson best express our thoughts and feelings toward you. SECOND ROW; Gerlinda Bedette, Shirley Torrey, Donna Matthews, Leslie Brown. Elaine Fredenburg, Donald Williams, Delores Davis, Phillip Walker, Sharon Chavoustie, Barbara Carr. Absent - Darlene Clark. How many of the Seniors can you identify in this picture of them taken in Kindergarten in 1951? CZfass (istoru On a bright morning in September, I960, 25 ebullient (overflowing with enthusiasm and excitement) members started our freshman year. Our class advisor was Mr. Rose, and our officers were: President, Arlene Lynch; Vice-President, Donna Matthews; Secretary, Charity Warner; Treasurer, Sharon Dwyer; and Student Council Representa- tive, Arlene Lynch. In September, 1961, we returned as a decorous (well-be-haved) sophomore class. Our advisor was Mrs. Dunham, and our officers were; President, Donna Matthews; Vice-President, Sharon Dwyer; Secretary, Arlene Lynch; Treasurer, George Gaumond; and Student Council Representative. Donna Matthews. Our feature activity was a magazine sale. The following fall we returned to L.C.S. as jocular (joking) juniors. Miss South- ard was our class advisor. We elected officers as follows: President, Donna Matthews; Vice-President, George Gaumond; Secretary, Sharon Chavoustie; Treasurer, Rodjer Bourn; and Student Council Representative, Donna Matthews. That year we amused ourselves with the sale of refreshments at basketball games, a stationery sale, the presentation of three one-act plays, with Steve Haas as the virago of the second play, a car wash, and our Junior Prom, with Donald Williams and Sharon Dwyer as King and Queen. This year 17 impeccable (faultless) seniors entered school. Miss Southard again has the delectable job of being our supervisor. Our officers have been: President, George Gaumond; Vice-President, Jimmy Bevens; Secretary. Sharon Dwyer; Treasurer, Rodjer Bourn; and Student Council Representatives, Donna Matthews and George Gau- mond. Our activities have been the publication of the 1964 Ontarion, a car wash, two record hops, one three-act play, Aunt Susie Shoots the Works, and the senior trip to New York City. Of the graduation class, seven members, Charity Warner, Shirley Torrey, Delores Davis, Rodjer Bourn, Donna Matthews, Elaine Fredenburg, and Sharon Dwyer, entered kindergarten together. Sharon Chavoustie joined us in the seventh grade, from Three Mile Bay. During our years at L.C.S., many persons have been with us from time to time. In the past four years Danny Cardinal, David Lear, Allen Stevens, Daniel Spencer, John Rogers, Sharon Bourquin, Ellen Brown, Sally Goodfriend, Arlene Slate, Marilyn Swallia, Mary Lu West, Sharon Hilts, Rose Viselli, Sharon Smith, and Cheryl Gibson have been members of our class. Our class motto is Let each become all that he is capable of being. Our class flowers are the blue and white carnations, and our class colors are blue and white. 18 ( fass JJropnecu The year is 2,000, 36 years after our graduation. Tnt occasion is a special re- union celebrating the end of the twentieth century. We are congregating on the planet Jupiter, as it is the most convenient location for the class of '64. Our hostess Mrs. Anthony Rushmore, the former SHARON CHAVOUSTIE, informs us that she is not only celebrating our reunion but also her 30th wedding anniversary. Sharon married Dr. Anthony Rushmore, famed physicist on Jupiter. The class has gathered on their multibiliion dollar estate. GERLINDA BEDETTE, who as a senior expressed a desire to become a nurse, is a member of the United Medical Corps. This group has been responsible for the elimi- nation of most of the diseases that have plagued modern man. She herself has discovered a method of preventing disease which is equal in importance to the vaccination. Gerlinda was quite disappointed when this method caused the death of twenty mice. JIMMY BEVENS, once the world’s champion karate expert, has now retired to the safer profession of teaching that art. Jimmy says that teaching is not quite so exciting as his previous career, but his insurance rates are lower, as are his hospital bills. RODJER BOURN, as Secretary of the Treasury, has made an agreement with Russia, whereby Russia pays all our debts in return for Khrushchev's grandson’s visiting rights to Disneyland. Rodjer has happily volunteered to take him on the rides. LESLIE BROWN, who had always expressed a desire to become President of the United States, not only achieved this goal but is now running for the highest position in the Solar System. He is well-liked by the people because of his ability to solve controversial problems and because of his excellent record of kissing babies. BARBARA CARR, after taking Psychology at Community College, went on to re- ceive a Doctor's degree in that field. She has been contributing a great deal to over- come the language barrier between the Earth and the other few inhabited planets. She is also a psychiatrist and has the longest couch in existence. Her most recent patient is Castro's son, who complained of being mistreated as a youth. DARLENE CLARK tells us that she has led a very exciting life; she has won three Oscars for her superb performances on Telstar and just recently was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature. Of course, we all recall her in our Senior Play as Scarlet, the colored maid. DELORES DAVIS is the most noted abstract painter in our Universe. She has helped many struggling youths to success in the world of art. Her best known works include The Moaning Lisa and The Mess. SHARON DWYER, looking radiant in an expensive creation designed by Donna Matthews, is well able to afford this gown. She has attained great wealth as the 19 personal secretary of the electronic brain which controls our weather. Sharon no longer changes her clothes to fit the season, but changes the season to match her clothes. ELAINE FREDENBURG has had an exciting and rewarding career as an attorney-at- law. She has handled over 300 cases and lost none. Telstar has decided to replace, the out-dated Perry Mason with a modem account of Elaine's experiences. GEORGE GAUMOND, with his vast knowledge of history and his great oratorical abilities, has toured the world and its neighboring planets, giving lectures on good government and history's effect on the future. He has devised a brilliant scheme for peaceful co-existence which meets with the approval of all nations. ARLENE LYNCH went on to higher mathematics. She is now the most prominent specialist on computers and IBM machines. However, the other day Arlene got a little confused and fed the wrong information to one of the computers. As a result, our country is not in the red. DONNA MATTHEWS, who is the life of our party, is the proud proprietor of a supermarket and is her own best customer. She also is the owner of a fashion center which sets the solar styles in hair dressing, as well as in wearing apparel. No modern woman is complete unless she has a Matthews original. Donna says that she intends to design nine gowns, one named after each planet. SHIRLEY TORREY is excitedly anticipating the opening of this year's winter Olym- pic games, over which she will reign as queen. Shirley was awarded this honor when she broke three world's records in figure, speed, and pair skating during last year's competition. PHILLIP WALKER, taking the advice given to him back at ole L. C.S. to become a School Guidance Counselor, went on to success. He now runs his own L.C.S. (Lunar Comet Schools). Under his fine guidance for the past 30 years, not one pupil has missed a day of school. His secret is that he has changed the school day to three hours. The rest of the time is devoted to sports. After completing Bible School, CHARITY WARNER married Rev. Robert Donavan, a well-known missionary. She barely missed death at the hands of a wild elephant which was going to the Republican National Convention. Charity has devoted herself to her husband's work and has told us about many other exciting experiences. DONALD WILLIAMS is unable to be with us, as he is competing in the last race of his career. His goal is first place in the Grand Prize on Venus, and he is driving The Vitz, the fastest jet engine car known. Donald has already won the title of World Champion Racer, which only proves that Donnie's driving ability at L.C.S. gave him a good background for his career. t 20 ( ass We, the Seniors of the Lyme Central School, Village of Chaumont, Town of Lyme, County of Jefferson, State of New York, being of inferior and intractable minds and memory, do make, publish, and declare this our last will and testament in the manner following: FIRST: All our debts, including our funeral expenses, shall be paid out of our depleted treas- ury by our swinging executors. To MR. WEST, we leave an office free from the boys of the class of '64. To MISS SOUTHARD, we leave a quiet homeroom for two months. Last but not least, to the FACULTY, we just leave. SECOND: I, GERLINDA BEDETTE, leave my gymnastic skills to Barbara Williams. I, JAMES BEVENS, leave my ability to stay on the road with any car to Roy Torrey. I, RODJER BOURN, leave all my wine, women, and song to William Oshier. I, LESLIE W. BROWN, will my capability to make Mr. Green smile to Char Bourn, and my ability to take physics to Nancy Utess. I, BARBARA CARR, leave my position as the shortest girl in high school to Susie Steele - Chin up, Susie 1 I, SHARON CHAVOUSTIE, leave my position as cheerleader for the basketball team of L.C.S. to any one who has the pep and energy to endure the whole game. I, DARLENE CLARK, leave my black-face make-up to anyone who isn't afraid of Ajax! I, DELORES DAVIS, leave my ability to goof up chemistry lab experiments to anyone who won't give up hope even though he's had failure after failure. I, SHARON DWYER, leave my ability to waste at least 10 carbon copies every time I start a new project in business practice to anyone else who can't seem to find a type- writer that spells correctly. I, ELAINE FREDENBURG, leave my old history books to any poor soul who can get along with them better than I. I, GEORGE GAUMOND, leave my adeptness at writing appropriate English compositions for 12th year English class to Donna Wheeler. I, ARLENE LYNCH, leave my position as Mr. Van's official guinea pig and class trouble maker to Pam (Louie) Audo. I, DONNA MATTHEWS, leave my superior lung power at basketball games to Bonnie Radley. I, SHIRLEY TORREY, leave my ability to fight with the boys and win to anyone who can take the punishment they give in return. 21 I, PHILLIP WALKER, leave the Hertz-Rent-a-Car and clock radio which Jimmy re- ceived last year and I borrowed this year to Tom Madill for next year. Maybe he will have better luck being on time to school than Jim and I did. I, CHARITY WARNER, leave my good luck not to be susceptible to pneumonia after riding in a convertible (with the top down) during the winter, to anyone crazy enough to do it. I, DONALD WILLIAMS, leave my abject fear of the opposite sex to Terry Bourcy - more power to you! Lastly we hereby appoint the Beatles executors of this, our last will and testament, with full power and authority, hereby revoking all former wills by us previously made. In witness whereof, we hereunto set our hand and seal the 29th day of February in the year one thousand nine hundred and sixty-four. witness Advice to the Seniors We advise GERLINDA BEDETTE to join the Navy Nurse Corps, where she can give in- jections to 6 ft. G.I.s, that is if they will lend her a stepladder. We advise JAMES BEVENS to become a news commentator because of his gift to gab. We advise RODJER BOURN to open a space-age gas station for flying saucers because he's way out. We advise LESLIE BROWN to become an optician so he will always have some spare contacts. We advise BARBARA CARR to grow a little so she won't get lost or stepped on at Community College. We advise SHARON CHAVOUSTIE to become secretary to Ben Casey and fall in love with her doctor. We advise DARLENE CLARK to keep on writing poetry. Who knows what great heights she might reach? We advise DELORES DAVIS to organize her own cheering squad for the Harlem Globe Trotters. We advise SHARON DWYER to get married and have ten children because we know she likes to knit booties. We advise ELAINE FREDENBURG to become the official chef to the First Lady. We advise GEORGE GAUMOND to become U.S. ambassador to Central Asia. With his brains and his looks, he should be able to erase the image of The Ugly American. We advise ARLENE LYNCH to become director of the Peace Corps because of her leadership ability. We advise DONNA MATTHEWS to keep on being cheerful. It will help a lot when she is typing and retyping business letters for her future employer. We advise PHILLIP WALKER to become a school guidance counselor. He always seems to have a lot of advice to give. We advise CHARITY WARNER to cut a few records. We're sure they'll become golden hits. We advise NORMA RAMSEY to open a Yarn Shop in Chaumont. We are sure she would be her own best customer. We advise PETER ROGERS to go to Russia to teach the natives the advantages of not working because someone tells you to. We advise KAREN SCHREIBER to become an airline hostess. We think that she would enjoy sitting on a pilot's lap. 24 We advise SHARON SOUTHWELL to open an automat in Three Mile Bay. With her past experiences in Lyme Central's cafeteria, she will be prepared for anything. We advise GARY WALKER to run for public office. Dignity and quiet-bearing authority are qualities our government needs. We advise DAVID WALLACE to write his memoirs under the title A Desk Is Confining” - or It’s a Long Trip To The Office. We advise ALFRED WARREN to compile a dictionary entitled Thoughts Unspoken. We advise FAYE WATERMAN to attend the Juilliard School of Music.
