( ass 3{is torij In the fall of 1956, the class of 1960 entered Lyme Central School, looking very bewildered. Our class advisor for that year was Mr. Weaver. We elected our class officers as follows: President - Dave Peters, Vice President - John Hentze, Secretary - Leslie Comins, Treasurer - Bill Beck, Student Council Representative - Susan Richards. After the summer vacation, we once again tramped to the doors of Lyme Central, eager for knowledge. Mrs. Dunham had the delight (?) of being our homeroom teacher. We sponsored a magazine sale and a dance to earn money for our New York trip. Our class officers were: President - John Hentze, Vice President - Dave Peters, Secretary - Bill Beck. Treasurer - Larry Barr, Student Council Representative - Elaine Northrop. Refusing to be defeated, we began our junior year with a very optimistic Miss Southard as our class advisor. We elected for our officers: President - Leslie Comins, Vice President - Steve Foster, Secretary - Sue Lynch, Treasurer - Sue Richards, and Student Council Representative - Dave Peters. Our activi- ties included selling hot dogs and cokes at home basketball games, selling stationery, and sponsoring the Junior Prom. We also presented three one-act plays: I'll Die for Dear Old Rutgers, Murder by Morning, and While the Toast Burned. Returning for our final year, we found a very pessimistic Miss Southard. During the year, we had a Christmas Ball, fudge sales, a magic show, and a three-act play, Vim, Vigor, and Vitality. Those who took the jobs of being class officers were: President - Sue Lynch, Vice President - Elaine Northrop, Secretary - Steve Foster, Treasurer - Sharon Bevens, and Student Council Rep- resentative - Dave Peters. Nine of us have been classmates throughout all our years in school. These nine are Liz Wilder, Sandy Wallace, Susan Richards, Brenda Ball, David Peters, Gail Hillick, John Hentze, Leslie Comins, and Bill Beck. Through our years of schooling, many persons have been members of our class from time to time. Space prevents our mentioning all of them, but per- haps it would be interesting to list those who were with us sometime during the past six years: Linda Thompson, Carolyn Ackerman, Karen Mosher, Mary Jack- son, Susan Richardson, Karen Loan, Dorothy McNulty, Mary Belle McNulty, Bob Thompson, Helen Torrey, Alex Sundberg, and Norman Cheal. Cj ass 7.)i We, the SENIORS of 1960, of LYME CENTRAL SCHOOL OF CHAUMONT in the county of JEFFERSON, state of NEW YORK, being of incompetent and inept mind, do make, pub- lish, and declare this our last WILL and TESTAMENT in manner following, that is to say: FIRST: To MR. WRIGHT we leave the office vacant so that he can use it once in a while. To MRS. SILVER we leave 17. 3948 3 37 tons of used staples. To the BUS DRIVERS we leave brooms and dustpans to clean up spit-balls, paper-wads, and other miscellaneous messes which the students of Lyme are bound to make. To the JANITORS we leave bubble-gum remover to clean up the gum which we have adroitly placed in various corners of the school. To the JUNIORS we leave the lockers outside the library with the stipulation that each shall have his own to cluttter up. SECOND: I, LARRY AUSTIN, will my many girlfriends to Ronnie Talbot. Neuman of Mad We advise LARRY AUSTIN to become a coach and write a book on basketball. We advise BRENDA BALL to go to work for MAD Magazine. Her diabolical sense of humor would be very helpful (?) to the editor. We advise LARRY BARR to get more than four hours of sleep each night or get the whole- sale price on No-Doze. We advise BILL BECK to start a dairy farm. He seems to have gotten a good beginning from his father. We advise SHARON BEVENS to apply for a job as bookkeeper for Governor Rockefeller. After handling the funds for the Seniors, she should be able to handle anyone's. We advise LESLIE COMINS to hunt for a girl. He seems to do OK where animals and birds are concerned. We advise ELAINE NORTHROP to keep up on her driving. Maybe someday she will be asked to join Steve Cochran and his Helldrivers. We advise DAVID PETERS to keep his attractive personality; we wouldn't know him without it. We advise LEO PETTEY to purchase the Cape Vincent to Watertown bus route and start operating buses leaving Chaumont hourly. We advise SUSAN RICHARDS to become a member of the Olympic swimming team. We advise JOE WEILER to keep his great knowledge of Physics. He may become one of the world's greatest professors in the field of physics. Magazine. The Class of 1960 We advise LIZ WILDER to go into the waffle business. She certainly has had a good start on it. We advise ANN YOTT to start growing. We hear the next generation is going to be taller. LARRY AUSTIN, after the well-known referee-stabbing incident of 1961, is now center for the Alcatraz five. His motive for murder was that he believed he was unjustly accused of making five fouls in the first two minutes of play in a game between the Nats and the Celtics. BRENDA BALL, on her recent trip to Disneyland by pogo stick, was apprehended by the authorities. She is now awaiting treatment at the Indiana State Home for the Be- wildered. LARRY BARR, undefeated flagpole-sitter champion of the world, has accredited his suc- cess to his remarkable ability to sleep anywhere at any time. BILL BECK, the president of the Board of Education of LCS, has just made the news- papers by producing free milk for all students and giving consent to a six-weeks' winter vacation. SHARON BEVENS was fortunate enough to marry the well-known English aristocrat Lord Tightwallet. Lady Tightwallet enjoys her daily fox hunts with the young Tight- wallets. She also added that it does wonders for the waistline. LESLIE COMINS had the honor of opening the first gasoline station on the moon. Comins' Last Chance Station is getting plenty of business from out-of-planet rockets. STEPHEN FOSTER, owner of the largest garbage dump in the nation, is at present suing the manufacturers of garbage disposals. Good luck, Steve. JIM GARRETT, once a newsboy, is now owner and editor of the Three Mile Bay Times and has received a Pulitzer Prize for excellence in local gossip. ROBERT GREENE is now truant officer for the town of Lyme. He is very successful in this job because of his amazing familiarity with school-boy pranks. JOHN HENTZE, once the Koolest Kat in Greenwich Village, has been kicked out for having too clean a sweatshirt. GAIL HILLICK, owner of Aunt Gail’s Pizza House, has people coming from all over the world just to taste her exotic pizzas. SUE LYNCH, mother of ten, has been named Mother of the Year, However, she is being sued for divorce by her husband who claims that the children are suffering from malnutrition. ELAINE NORTHROP was the sole owner and proprietor of an enchanting and romantic cocktail lounge. She was at the peak of success when she lost her license for serv- ing only minors. DAVID PETERS, bat boy for the Dodgers, is working his way up and is learning the fine points of baseball from the experts. LEO PETTEY has successfully dredged the Chaumont River by hand to permit ocean- going vessels to reach Depauville. SUE RICHARDS, long a lover of gum, is now the owner of Susi-Chew Bubble Gum fac- tory. She claims that bubbles blown with her gum are guaranteed to come out square. FRED WALKER, a successful bum in New York City, is known by his cohorts as Freddie- the-free-loader. If any of his friends want to visit him, he'll be found on the third bench from the west end of Central Park. SANDRA WALLACE is operating an exclusive clothing shop. She has always been a great lover of clothes, and many attribute her success to the fact that she spends millions each year investing in her store. It seems she is her own best customer. t FAITH WARNER is now the matron of an international orphanage. She loves all the little kiddies dearly and is constantly looking for donations. JOSEPH WEILER, the famed professor of Analytic Geometry at Harvard University, has just been elected President of the National Association of Teachers of Mathematics. LIZ WILDER has literally gone to the dogs. She now lives happily in Alaska, mar- ried to a high school sweetheart, and they are raising huskies. The last report from Liz was Mush! Little ANN YOTT is the wife of a dealer in foreign cars. He was quite an inventor also. He invented a special type of foreign car that repels other objects. Ann's driving has greatly improved, we are happy to hear. FIRST ROW: S. Klock, M. Planty, P. Weaver, J. Luff, G. Rogers. SECOND ROW: L. Hill, R. Schreiber, S. Reddick, M. Rogers, W. Weaver, A. He certainly has the looks and charm for it. We advise DICK SCHREIBER to become a television comedian. He seems to have the knack of keeping people laughing. We advise GARY SNYDER to get married, raise a big family, and start his own business, Snyder's Diaper Service. We're sure he'd never have to worry about customers that way. This team would not be denied this honor and accomplished the long-sought goal, namely: Lyme Cen- tral School Champions, Class D of Section III, New York State Public High School Athletic Assoc, of 1960. Great personal effort for team success has been displayed with many long hard hours of practice. Each team member has been a contributing factor to the team success this year. Each team member wishes to thank both their parents or guardians and the school for the opportunity to participate and prove that the above goal could be reached on a high plane of sportsmanship both on and off the basketball court. Congratulations, team, for a great job well done, and may the ideals and habits devel- oped continue with you through the years as a guide for your living. won - 12 lost - 5 17 7 ) ars i tij J)asJ?etba f FIRST ROW: R. The Junior Varsity, playing without experience as a team, won 4 and lost 7 for the season. This team gained valuable experience in both performance and in the mental approach to competing in sports. These boys could well develop into a strong group if they continue to grow both mentally and physically in their attitude toward the game. All is not judged by the counting of the won and lost columns. It is how the game was played that determines the outcome of the season. I wish to thank each player for his cooperation this season and hope that another year we may continue to enjoy taking part in the sport as w did this past season. - Coach West SEASON RECORD LYME OPP. 29 Mannsville 35 28 Cape Vincent 19 36 Lafargeville 42 28 Alex Bay 45 33 Sackets Harbor 45 35 Cape Vincent 18 22 Mannsville 34 20 Clayton 12 28 Lafargeville 38 36 Clayton 13 31 Alex Bay 45 326 346 FOUL SHOOTING RECORD LYME ATT.
