Mr. Clyde Keith was our advisor. Class officers were: President, Gretchen Wilder; Vice-President, Jean Mason; Secretary, Doreen Diamond and Treasurer, Elsie Reed. The school year closed with a class picnic at Cedar Point State Park. Maybe our school year was quiet, but it ended with a bang, when the school burned in the stammer. The beginning of our Sophomore year found our class selling magazines. Calvin Becker was our top salesman. Mr. John Grieco was our class advisor. Class officers were: President, Lawrence Comins; Vice-President, Elsie Reed; Secretary, Gretchen Wilder; and Treasurer, Mary Kate Mahan. The school year ended with a class picnic at Cedar Point State Park. In our Junior year we were all scurrying around making plans for our Senior year’s trip and graduation. We sold stationery to build up our funds for our Senior trip. Mrs. Eula Beck was our class advisor. Class officers were: President, Sandra Mumford; Vice-President, Elsie Reed; Secretary, Mary Kate Mahan; and Treasurer, Gretchen Wilder. The school year ended with a class picnic at Cedar Point State Park. We presented a Junior Play called Mrs. Plaster of Paris , directed by Mr. Stone. Our Junior Prom was held in June, with Sandra Mumford as Queen and Calvin Becker as King. Our Senior year found all of us picking out a Senior play, a hard task because we had so few in our class. We finally decided upon Take Three Girls . Mr. Stone was again our director. Our class officers were: President, Mary Kate Mahan; Vice-President, Ethel Lear; Secretary, Elsie Reed; Treasurer, Gretchen Wilder; Representative to Student Council, Larry Comins. Our Senior trip consisted of four days in Washington, D. C. and two days in New York City, chaperoned by Mr. Fetterly. The whole trip lasted a week. Our four years of high school ended when the ten Seniors graduated from L.C.S. It might be interesting to note that Gretchen, Pat, Sandra, and Larry started school together in the first grade. Ethel joined our class in the second grade, Joan joined our class in the sixth grade, Elsie and Calvin joined us from Three Mile Bay school in the seventh grade, Mary Kate in the eighth grade, and Norman joined our class in our senior year. CU Witt We, the class of 1955 of Lyme Central School, being of sound mind and memory, and considering the uncertainty of this world, do hereby dispose of all worldly goods and properties and declare this to be our last will and testament. First, we leave our homeroom in the library to the incoming Junior class. We leave our plans for our Senior trip to both Washington and New York City to the next small class. I, Calvin Becker, leave my spot on the bench to anyone who wants it. I, Lawrence Comlns, leave my ability to keep the teachers on their toes to Rita Benney. I, Norman Gee. leave my anti-social tendencies to David Heasley. I, Patricia Haley, leave my rushing to the Post Office every noon to Lois Quencer. I, Joan Klzzer. leave my job of making out menus and running them off to Bethel Brown. I, Ethel Lear, leave my Shorthand book to Elizabeth Gosier. I, Marykate Mahan, leave ray ability to spell to Roy Bevens. I, Sandra Mumford, leave my ability to laugh in class to Carolyn Dean. I, Elsie Reed, leave my place on the cheering squad to Susan Richards. I, Gretchen Wilder, leave my library work to Genevieve Loomis. We make, constitute, and appoint Liberace and his brother George executors of this, our last will and testament. In witness hereof we hereunto subscribe our name and affix our seal. C JLo 1 55- ADVICE TO THE SENIORS We advise Calvin Becker to keep practicing basketball- Maybe he can be with the Nats someday. Tonight we are digging up the remains of the Class of 55 Shall we begin? Calvin John Becker C.J. is now a leading whiz whiz business tycoon with oodles and oodles of money. He started out hitch hiking from Three Mile Bay to Florida and upon arriving there got a Job as street cleaner One day while sweeping the street, he found a bundle of money which had been left in the gutter by Lefty Louie, the notorious bank robber who had robbed Brinks the day before. Brinks were so happy to get the money back that they gave Calvin a Job as Vice-President. There is some talk that in a few years Brinks will be changed to Beckers Lawrence Eugene Comins Yes, Ex-governor Corains was a member of the class of '5 5 in ten years he has gone far, working his way up from Lawyer to Attorney General, to Governor As you all know. Ex-governor Comins is running for President in the fall and from all reports he will win by a land-slide. By the way, it is interesting to note that he got quite a bit of vocal exercise in high school trying to be heard above seven girls all yacking at the same time. Norman Hawkins Gee Biochemist Dr. Gee, who at last found a vital enzyme, recently visited Station LCS in Chaumont where a special police guard had to be alerted to keep the women and teen- agers from trampling on Dr. Gee, called the Romeo of this generation. Alas, Norman has certainly changed since his high school days when we knew him. Patricia Anne Haley Now, Mrs. Seebook, wife of the country's leading farmer. Pat met her husband through his daughter, with whom she came in contact while teaching the sixth grade in Frankenstein High School. Miss Haley wrote a note home saying how naughty little Hortense was. Mr. Seebook, rich widower, came to the school to inquire about the note.......... They fell in love and were married a year later. Joan Marie Klzzer Well, lo and behold, whose name is that on that dressing-room door? It's none other than Madame Joanne , star of Broadway and Hollywood. It's rumored around Hollywood's grape-vine that Madame Joanne , who Just returned from divorcing her fourth husband in Reno, will soon marry Millionaire Herbert Jay Needlemann. Ethel Marie Lear Now Principal of Whippenhoop High School, Ethel Marie started out as Kindergarten Teacher in L.C.S., met Mr Whippenhoop and married him five years later. Now they are filling Whippenhoop High School with little Whippenhoopers. Mary Kate Mahan As we visit the campus of Notre Dame, we run into one of our 55 graduates Bing - Bang.....The whistle blows - Mary Kate Mahan - husky girl coach is instructing her football team. Incidentally, she is the first girl to be coach at Notre Dame and since she has been coaching that team, they have yet to lose a game, Sandra Josephine Mumford The winner of the fabulous Miss Pan American , American Airline Hostess Title is being announced on television— --just a moment----why, the winner is none other than Sandra Mumford, another member of the class of '55 i But, Sandra will be out of the competition next year, for she is resigning her position as head hostess to marry her childhood sweetheart. Wolfhound Snozzle, Elsie Mae Reed Is now the leading business woman of the country. Starting out when she graduated from the Watertown School of Commerce”, Miss Reed has worked her way up to the top of the ladder, both social and career wise. She owns her own estate on Long Island and three offices in New York alone. She has opened many schools throughout the country and is now supervising the building of the new ”Reed School of Commerce in Chaumont. Gretchen Ann Wilder The Slinky - Sticky Bubble Gum Factory is now under new management, Gretchen Wilder, who always loved bubble gum in school, worked for Mr, Hoppenbubble for two years and finally finageled him into marrying her, and now she is Mrs, Ira Stanley Hoppenbubble with simply oodles and oodles of bubble gum.
