Four years ago the Senior Class of 1951 started its high- school career with a bang, when the fire extinguisher blew up in the General Science class. That year Mr. Mein was our class ad- visor and Elinor Merchant was our class president. In our Sophomore year we had two new class mates, Rose Ann Mumford and Betty Sundberg. The class officers were Elinor Merchant, president; Betty Sundberg, vice-pres.; Henry Purcell, secretary; and Ronald Van Deventer, treasurer. Our activities were: selling magazines, holding an invitation square dance, and having a picnic with the Freshmen at Long Point. Miss Don- ahue was our class advisor that year. We lost Butch Van Deventer and Eugene Crump that year, also. The following September when we came back to school as Juniors we had an enrollment of 12 members. We had a year of basketball games, selling stationery, our Junior play. The Ghost Plane , and a talent show. The years class officers were: Elinor Merchant, president; Rose Ann Mumford, vice-pres.; Viola Holbrook, secretary; and Betty Sundberg, treasurer. Our class advisor was Mrs. Beck. We ended our school year with the annual Junior Prom with Elinor Merchant and Henry Purcell as King and Queen. We also brought the school year to a close with a tour of the Thousand Islands and a picnic at Cedar Point. At the beginning of our Senior year we had only 10 members, Betty Sundberg,Elinor Merchant, Barbara Luff, Viola Holbrook, Joan Becker, Rose Ann Mumford, Henry Purcell, Fred Aubertine, Ted Mudgett, and Bob Rickett. At midterm, as a result of the January exams, Rosemary Loomis, Betty Van Ness, Ruth Scales, Richard Knight, Kent Horton, and Shirley Hoppel, joined. Our activities were: The Senior play, The Ready Made Family , a costume ball, a talent show, and the Christmas card sale. The class officers were: Rose Ann Mumford, president; Henry Purcell, vice-pres.; Bob Rickett, secretary; and Betty Sundberg, treasurer. Mrs. Beck was our class advisor. We also published The Ontarion Lyme Central's annual yearbook. We spent our well earned class funds on a wonderful four day trip to New York City during Easter Vacation. It is interesting to note that Joan, Viola, Kent, Bob, and Henry all started school together 12 years ago. Elinor, Fred, Richard, Ruth and Shirley joined them in the 7th grade, coming from a country school and the Three Mile Bay school. Ted Mudgett joined us in the 6th grade and Rosemary, Betty, and Barbara joined us from Point Peninsula. JJistori ¥
