DEPLO ME TS. SWENSON deployed to WESTPAC in April 1967 and again in November 1968. During these six-month tours with the SEVENTH FLEET, she served actively off the shores of Vietnam and Korea, and visited several Far East ports. The USS LYIVIAN K. SWENSON began its final deploy- ment on lVlarch 9, 1970. While in WESTPAC the ship fired several naval gunfire support missions off the coast of the Republic of Vietnam, served as Search and Rescue picket escort, and escorted attack aircraft carriers in the Gulf of Tonkin. The SVVENSON returned to her home port of San Diego on September 5, 1970. The USS LYlVlAN.K. SWENSON vvill end 26 years of continuous service when her colors are hauled down a final time in January 1971. She will rest quietly at San Diego's mothball fleet ready to once again answer her country's call if needed.
