.1 ,IJ ,. . ' f'::1.'.4A? Commander Richard V. Dalton was born March 8, 1930 in Manila, Philippine Islands. He was graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1953. His first assignment was on the USS Bremerton ICA-130l, then he was transferred to the USS Watts lDD-567l. Commander Dalton later served as Commanding Officer, USS Tombigbee IAOG-11l and USS Implicit IMSO-455l. Commander Dalton attended the U.S. Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California where he was a student in Engineering Science and Government and Politics of Southeast Asian countries. Commander Dalton's other assignments were Aide and Flag Lieutenant, Commander First Fleet, Officer Promotion Plans Division of the Plans and Policy Section of the Bureau of Naval Personnel, He later served a tour as Commander Mine Division Eighty One. Prior to assuming command of USS LYMAN K. SWENSON CDD-729l CDR Dalton served on the Joint Staff, MACV in Vietnam with primary duties involving Riverina Warfare. Commander Dalton holds the following awards, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, China Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal I3 campaignsl, United Nations Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
