Present day America is a changing, ever-expanding industrial and technical complex. In consideration of the nature of contemporary society, industrial arts education provides instruction in the areas 'of industrial technology for the de- velopment of insights and understanding about modern manufacturing, communi- cations, construction, power, and transportation. Learning experiences are provided which help to discover, identify, and develop student talents for a more effective selection and completion of further academic, vocational, technical, or professional courses. Through the use of tools, machines, materials, and processes, industrial arts courses develop a measure of skill in designing, experimenting, planning, construct- ing, and evaluating instructional projects. ln this respect industrial arts makes its unique contribution to the education of all youth. Industrial Arts in an integral part of the total school program' and should be available to all students at all grade levels.
