The aroma of corn flakes wafted into the bedroom. The reluctant housemaid threw the covers off. By 8:15 AM, the bed was made and dishes done. Some students had to complete before school chores. They said their parents did not like the house to be left a mess for the whole day. One anonymous student said his mother gave him chores to do, so she wouldn't have to do them. Many students, particularly those of ranching or farming families, faced the cold to feed ani- mals or chop wood. I usually feed the chickens, gather eggs, and slop the pigs before school, noted Sophomore Traci Platts.
