Flashback to September 3, 1986, the first day of school. The summer vacation was over. We arrived at Lyman Hall with a lot of questions. How had everyone changed over the summer? Were there any new kids in school? Did anyone move away? How tough is my schedule? How will our sports teams do this year? It was time to discipline ourselves after the freedom of summer vacation. We had to get used to the bells, the crowded halls, homework, and changes within the school. There were newly acquired teachers to replace those that had retired. The modified system of two lunch waves created a hectic atmosphere until we adjusted to the crowd. Remember trying to get food, then attempting to find a place to sit? Another change was the refinished gym floor, painted orange, blue and white, which added vibrance to the indoor sports events. The new year was a time for freshmen to discover different people, experiences and the freedom of high school. For others, it was a time to discover various concepts and broaden their horizons. Future goals were set and new plans laid out.
