You will be remembered, and you will remember yourselves, as the ’76ers, a name not to be taken without pride. Your accomplishments as a class and, more important, your achievements as individuals have perpetuated the spirit of 1776. Your sacrifices and struggle for improvement and the attainment of excellence, in my mind, are significant to the inheritance left by your rugged and perseverent ancestors. As they succeeded, they built and left a nation of opportunities. Your graduation is symbolic of the fact that you have thus far taken advantage of that legacy. ’76ers, will your future activites afford others that which we sometimes take for granted, but do hold dear — “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?” I am confident that you will be guided in your future endeavors by the thought that you shall allow for others the same opportunity of a good life in the greatest nation of the world. Jiiy ■naitimor- -cV -t'Utf of Hnitrifo It is only fitting and proper, in our BiCentennial year, that the yearbook dedicate a message to the spirit of Lyman Hall. He is the man in whose memory our school is named. Lyman Hall was born in Wallingford, Connecticut on April 12, 1724. He went to Yale College to study ministry. After College, Hall had a brief career as a preacher. He then turned to medicine. Lyman Hall was known as an American-Revolutionary leader. He was one of the founders of Sunbury in 1758. He also took part in colonizing the “Midwest District” of Georgia. From 1775 to 1780, Hall was a member of the Continental Congress. Lyman Hall was elected the Governor of Georgia. Hall is most famous for being one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. ;“Dedication to the spirit of JCymaii Mall 131 T)edication We the 1976 Graduating class, do here-by dedicate our yearbook to teacher coach Fred Schipke. Mr. Schipke has given thirty three years service to the students of Lyman Hall. In that period of time he coached eight league championships in golf, four in basketball along with coaching Football and Baseball. The high lights of his coaching career would have to be his state championships basketball teams in 1949 and — 1952. Mr. Schipke was also named the 1964 Coach of the year award in golf. A civic minded citizen, he was President of the Rod and Gun Club for two years. We will miss Mr. Schipke. Not many like him come along. His perseverance and dedication will always be remembered. The 1976 graduating Senior Class wish to honor special acknowledgment to Mrs. Lucille Connolly and Mr. Nick Economo-polus. These two people have a great understanding of the students needs, and the ability to communicate freely and easily with them. Their warm and outgoing personalities have touched and affected many individuals. Lucille and Nick have dedicated many hours beyond their regular teaching duties. Zribute Mrs. Lucille Connolly is DECA Advisor for the Lyman Hall Chapter of Distributive Education. She is also involved in other activities such as: making pins for the Allied Health Service, signs and posters, and she makes all programs for banquets, concerts, plays, and any other activity concerning school. Mr. Economopolus is a teacher in the Business Department, who has devoted a great deal of time and effort to the school Athletic Program. His enthusiasm and his spirit overflows on all students of Lyman Hall. Throughout E’s five years at Lyman Hall, he has coached the Girls Powderpuff and Basketball teams, and the Freshman Football and Baseball Teams. 132 Mr. Peter Mallinson, the official Lyman Hall photographer, wishes to thank the following student photographers whose work make up 75% of the pictures in this book: Laurie Yaskot Wayne Calabrese Carol Herrle Compliments of Mallinson’s Studio official photographers to the class of 1976 28 North Colony Street Wallingford, Connecticut 265-0244 133 KiH Congratulations Class of ’76 K H CONTAINERS INC.
