STELLA M. ADAMS RICHARD M. BURNER The Student Council, the student governing body composed of representatives from each class, has completed another successful year. In September at an impressive farewell program, the Council presented gifts to four members of the Senior Class who were called to active service when Company K of the Connecticut National Guard was federalized. Two representatives and an adviser attended the 1950 Conference of the New England Student Government Association at the Hotchkiss Preparatory School. At a later meeting in Dover, New Hampshire, Gordon Gilman was chosen to represent the New England Association at the National Association Convention to be held at Wellesley College in June. During the basketball season the group sponsored the sale of candy and soda at the home games held in the State Armory. -29-

THE CHRONICLE 1951 During the year six auditorium programs were presented to the student body. The Council also sponsored three sport dances and a hobo-sock hopu. In April the Student Council was host to the members of the Housatonic Valley League of Student Councils at a general assembly held at the lNIoses Y. Beach School. Current problems were discussed in the afternoon, followed by a dinner and a dance in the evening. Representatives also attended a general assembly at Seymour High School and executive board meetings at East Haven, Shelton, and Derby. Under the leadership of the Student Council, the student body has chosen a standard school crest, which will appear on future class rings. In connection with this project, several assemblies were held to discuss the pros and cons of standardization, and a school-wide contest was conducted for the best crest design.
