Once again the Pattersonian is on its way. The purpose has been to reflect through its pages the spirit and activities of the Lydia Patterson Institute. The past weeks have been filled with excitement as the Editorial Staff with the teachers and their helpers have worked untiringly in their efforts to make this Annual a success. I feel that they have accomplished a feat of real value and I wish to commend them heartily. The aim of the teachers and workers during the years has been to create a Christian atmosphere that the students who leave these halls may carry with them a clear understanding of the Truth that makes men free. I wish to express my apprecia- tion to God and to my co-laborers who have worked together to make 1948-49 one of the most successful years in the long and glorious history of this institution. For the prayers and interest of all former students and the many friends of L. P. I., I am grateful. Let me assure you that the motto of our school, Loyalty, Progress, and Industry, will be upheld and reflected in every phase of the life of the Lydia Patterson Institute. P. A. Grout
