LYCOMING COLLEGE 38 30 i II nil I 10026 2212 9 irg p:3 g• LIBRARY Wx3 W y mi ARROW 1982 LYCOMING COLLEGE WILLIAMSPORT, PENNSYLVANIA 17701 Introduction - 1 THE CLASS OF 1982 PROUDLY DEDICATES THIS VOLUME TO 2 - Dedication FATHER JOHN TAMALIS Father Tamalis ' service to both the campus and the surrounding communities extends far beyond the realm of priesthood. With his unique ability to motivate campus-community interaction, Fr. T teaches us to help one an- other. Through various programs, an unwritten recip- rocal contract is reached betvi een campus and surrounding communities. By students par- ticipating in such program as the United Cam- pus Ministries, Big Brother Big Sister, Adopt-A- Grandparent, and numerous others of v hich Father Tamalis advises, we are given responsi- bility and the opportunity to further interper- sonal skills that are so essential for all aspects of life. The community also receives its av ards from this interaction. Typically neglected sects of society such as the underprivileged, youth, and the elderly find meaningful friendship and a chance, at least temporarily, to break from the confines of their limit- ed worlds. Yet, these activities do so much more than to just help others— they help us to help ourselves. Al- though there are alter- nate ways to discover and delvelop our fullest potential, Fr. T fosters a method of helping others at the same time. What makes Fr. T such a special person is an intangible that is exceedingly diffi- cult to describe. What- ever, that intangible is, however, it gives him that vanishing ability to show us all a way to find our- selves and grow to reach our fullest potentials. When you think about it, what more can anyone do? Father Tamalis, we are proud to dedicate our 1982 ARROW to not only you, but to all that you stand for as well. Good Luck. It is important to note that the services of Lycoming College do not end after you have been graduated. Alumni are welcome to make use of programs offered by the Career Development Center and the Alumni Office. The Career Development Center will continue to send you in- formation on job opportunities until you find meaningful employment. We do ask that you notify the Career Development Center after you have obtained a position so that we may direct our efforts towards those who are still job hunting. Just as we hope to keep you informed of new developments on campus, through our Alumni Office and Career Development Center mailings, we hope that you will do the same for us. It is imperative that we have a current mailing address in our files! If you change your residence, place of employment, or complete additional schooling, may we be the first to know? In addition, we ask that you help your alma mater by informing us of any job openings in your place of employment so that we might assist future graduates in their job hunt. Do you like the things that life is showing you? Where are you going to, do you know? Do you get what you ' re hoping for? When you look behind you there ' s no open door. What are you hoping for, do you know? After graduation, each one of us will be going in different directions — starting new and exciting careers, continuing on to graduate school, and maybe staying at Lyco to take some extra courses. But whatever we do, most of us will cut the apron strings from home and go out on our own working at being successful in life ' s future endeavors. What we become is up to us. We alone, must make our dreams and hopes come true, for no one else will. Stand up seniors, for you now have gained experience — academically and socially — to play the game called life! I personally wish each of you continued success and happiness in all that you do. I would like to recognize the following people who have helped me successfully complete this year ' s yearbook.
