To THE Class of 1956: You are members of the first class to be arad- uated under my presidency at Lycoming College. This is a very significant milestone for each one of you. However, it is important for vou to realize that it is only a milestone. You have not reached the end of a journey. You are only a little further along the way. Lycoming College is proud to be able to grad- uate each one of you. This does not mean that we dismiss you with a diploma. It means rather that we share the joy of your achievement and look with considerable anticipation into vour future. The way in which you respond to the responsi- D. You ha ' e felt some of our growing pains; sometimes you were our pains. But we ha ' e come through to the high moment of graduation. In this moment all the influences of your life converge. Here vou stand indebted to all who have gone before vou: parents, teachers, and friends. This is a very real debt though it cannot be determined in dollars and cents. You will pay it ofi as you prove yourself worthy of the sacrifices and services which they have provided for you. I wish you well! I am proud of vou! I want you to remain proud of vour Alma Mater. dent. 10
