CHESTER E. MEISSNER In spite of how you feel now about the school and teachers, you may find yourself, as I do, in the position of deep appreciation for most things the teachers did lo increase knowledge and understanding. While not all experiences are pleasant, experiences can also teach valuable lessons I often wonder if a person re members pleasant things longer than unpleasant things in my experience 1 find that some of my most demanding teachers are most vividly remembered, I can remember (in living color) my Industry! Arts teacher tell¬ ing me what kind of a_wood butcher I was after making some rather poor joints, I remember my Agriculture teacher telling the meat judging team that we came down to win first place and congratulations The toughest games of hockey, football, and baseball are remembered the longest, The easy wins are quickly forgotten I remember my first date, the first ski party, the first prom and the first urge to continue my education. The bad and the good seem to rush through my mind together because it is all a part of the growing and learning process. The toughest Administrative assignment I have encountered was the combining of two high school districts However, through the cooperation of dedicated teachers and other district employees and with patient understanding and cooperation of some very wonder - fut students my experience at Luxemburg-Casco has been most pleasant and I hope you and I will REMEMBER WHEN we started a new school. i p ANTHONY W. POUCH With a good education each person has a manipulative property inside his head and heart. It is a resource everyone can carry around and convert into cash and personal in¬ dependence with a bit of skill and ambition. A high school education opens the door to an individual ' s future success. It is up to the individual to pass beyond the open door M by making the best possible use of the opportunities as they present themselves. i FACULTY ANTON L ANDERSON, fi.S Wisconsin State University, Steven Point Science, Athletics Twenty fourth ¥e f il LC DAVID BAUMGAftlNfR, BE Whitewater State University Buaitm Education Founeenth Year «i l-C PRANK CHALUPA. Forensic members can participate in extemporaneous speaking, four-minute speech, original oratory, public address, significant speaking, interpretive reading of prose and poe¬ try, memorized declamation, and play acting- Each member is allowed to participate in only one field, After selecting a category and preparing a speech, several contests follow. First, a local contest is held to eliminate the number of participants to two to a category; then follows the subdistrict contest after which the district contest s held at Oshkosh. After receiving an A’ at Oshkosh, the student proceeds to Madison for the state or final contest. This year being their first in existence, they only participated in money making activities such as the bake sale and also the paper drive, both of which turned out fairly well. The money is to be used to host a foreign exchange student from Germany next year and also to subscribe to German magazines- This dub was designed to promote bet¬ ter understanding of the German people and their ways of life. There were limes when our freshman year seemed lo be a struggle for survival Remember ihe agony of that first day of school? And who could forget initiation! Despite such continual harassment, all of us somehow managed to survive. From flustered freshmen to sophisticated sophomores and our chance for revenge , . „ no freshman class had it harder than the one that followed us Even the faculty could not escape us. as Mr, Barberg and Mr, Dakins probably can testify With the acquisition of class rings and driver s licenses, our survival was secured, New faces, new friends, new teachers . . , the result of the consolidation of Luxem¬ burg and Casco school districts. Pooling our efforts and talents brought us the Peninsula Conference Championship in football, the number one rank in the state in wrestling, 13 A ' s in forensics at Oshkosh, and firsts for all concert groups at the Music Festival Our Prom was bigger and better too—with A Summer Place as its theme and Tom Baierl and Julie Miller as its King and Queen, The merger had strengthened us all. Union forever Our united forces continued to bring us victory. Again ihe football team led the conference, making our Homecoming theme There ' s A Place for Us a reality. Our place 1 ' was at the head of the line and we managed to keep it there We repeated last year triumphs and ' reeked havoc, too T Our four year struggle those years of tears and toils and triumphs—was ceremoniously dosed by Mr, Meissner ' s awarding us all with diplomas.
