GREGOR To a men among men, a man whose prin¬ ciples compare with those of the highest caste of men, a man whose devotion to his work has gone unceasingly for more than forty-five years, a man whose great wisdom often lies hidden behind his unique modesty, to Mr; George V, Gregor, we, the class of 1964, ded¬ icate this annual. Looking back through the years, we will come lo realize the contribution of character he has endowed to each of us, as to hund- reds of our predecessors in this school. Were it not for Mr. Gregor, it is doubtful whether we would have these cherished walls to re¬ member, Our new school is not only a place of learning but a permanent tribute to our principal. In the building of this school, George Gregor often bore the brunt of uncalled for criticism Even knowing he was right, he bore this disapproval with dignity, always consid¬ erate enough to listen to everyone ' s opinion. He consistently turned the other cheek to in¬ sult and in this subtle manner won his issue. Let us also consider the charitableness with which Mr, Gregor has embellished his twenty six years as principal. His initial donation of S5Q0 first started the athletic program in this school. A man of great understanding, he is always willing to give a person a second chance. His patient nature has given all of us an equal opportunity to learn. Mr. Gregor is always the first to congratulate a person in recognition of an accomplishment, and with this he adds a spurt of inspiration. His humi¬ lity sets for us a rare example to follow. What other man of his position would humble him¬ self to lead a cheer before an entire assembly of students. It is not only the big things he has accomplished which make him so admir¬ able, but these countless little things which he has so often performed unnoticed. We offer this annual to you, Mr. Gregor, as a humble token of our high esteem, in hopes that it may compensate in some small way the great debt we owe you. Schimmels, Advisor. The Library Club has seen an increase this year over the membership of previous years. By increasing the number of students in the dub it has been possible to offer more assis¬ tance to students who wish to use the re¬ sources of the library. The members of the club work daily in the library. This consists of either working behind the desk, reading shelves, or repair¬ ing books. Besides the daily work every libr¬ ary club member is required to learn enough about the library to be of assistance to stu¬ dents who wish to obtain information from it. They take periodic tests through the course of the year and upon completion are given a fourth of a credit in library science. The dub is much indebted to AAr d Donald Schimmels, advisor, for his assistance in teach¬ ing the members the many skills it requires to serve the school as student librarians. The Student Council is not a club but rather an organization of young people working toget¬ her and striving to develop student responsibi¬ lity, initiative, leadership, school spirit, and bel¬ ter school morale. All members must have an average of at least a B ' J and they are elected by their respective classes. Each representative fakes an active part in the Council ' s projects and devotes much time to it ' s activities. The or¬ ganization operates the school store, contri¬ butes to the Luxemburg Loan Fund, organizes panel discussions, attends District State Conven¬ tions, schedules class and club meetings, re¬ cord hops, tournaments, and various other re¬ creational and service projects. Luxemburg ranked second in both defense and in total points scored After winning both of their pre-season non-conference games, they dropped a close one to Southern Door, 6-0 Because of injuries, a few of Luxemburg ' s letter- men were kept out of all or at least a great part of the season, BASKETBALL Coach Fameree did an excellent job coaching this years basketball team considering he had few letter- men back from last year. They took the championship in both football and basketball, In ' 52 and 56 the Btuejays, under Mr. Anderson ' s direction, add¬ ed two more trophies to the trphy case. Then two years later in 1958 and again in ' 59 the record of 1951 almost repeated itself when the Blue jays became conference co-champs in basketball and went undefeated in football. In the past three years, Luxemburg has taken a championship in at least one sport. Over the years, Mr. Anderson has proven himself 1o us, the students of L. K S,, as a wonderful football and basketball coach. When Mr. Anderson retired from Basketball coaching in 1962, Mr, Fameree took his place at the sidelines. Mr. iFameree had been Phy¬ sical Education instructor and assistant coach since he came to Luxemburg in 1956. Last year and this year Mr. Famere has proven himself to be an excellent coach by produc¬ ing a good team. Coach Fameree had little to work with during his two years as head coach because of his loss of letrermen. When given the right material he will put together a cham¬ pion basketball team. Mr. Chalupa, as assistant football coach and head wrestling coach, has also proven him¬ self to be outstanding in his field. When a job was to be done Mr. Chalupa was there to do it Now in his seventeenth year at L. H. 5. He has again produced a good wrestling ream. With his guidance they are not only excellent wrestlers but also good sports. He has sent boys to Madison who have come back with a state-championship, It can plainly be seen that we, the students at L, H, $., are very proud of our coaching staff and we know that they will continue to produce champions. Page Sixry-four King Ken Dax chose Mary Barbiaux as his queen for the 1963 Homecoming, which was held Octo¬ ber 1 ].
