LUXEMBURG HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1952 PRESENTS SEVENTH EDITION OF 4i MEMORIES IN BLUE PROGRESS DEDICATION Based on progress in this community We the class of 1952, wish to dedicate this yearbook to the men, women and children who have worked to make this nation and this community a better and a safer place in which to live. They were a people imbued with courage and idealism, willing to endure danger and hardship that there might be perpetuated for us our great heritage of freedom. Freedom of the mind and spirit meant more to them than mere material comforts. These people were our parents, grand¬ parents, and great grandparents. We owe them much! May this Yearbook be a humble token of our appreciation to these great people whose vision and sacrifice gave us our priceless heritage that makes it possible for us to continue, unrestrained, in our pur¬ suit for truth in this age. May we have the high courage and idealism that will make us willing to emulate the fine record of our ancestors to the end that we too may some day hand on to future generations a herit¬ age of freedom. Geieila, The F.F.A. has always stood for advancement in both the field of agriculture and social character. The Luxemburg chapter has always strived to install in its members the necessity of good farming practices, and the ability to live, learn, and be a credit fo society. These are brought about through the class room work and practical applications by means of the Farming Program. Our chapter has been continually striving to improve in all of these fields. We now have a very active Hog Improvement Program consisting of two major breeds, Our cm: and Chester White. Both breeds look top prizes at the local fair. More and more is being done in the dairy field, as this is the major income of farmers in this area. Our advisor not only has helped the members of F.F.A, with these programs, but farmers from this entire area. Animal judging teams have been entered in the Northeastern Livestock Exposition and Uni¬ versity of Wisconsin competition. Darrell Hermans rated top in meat judging at the fat stock show. Members have taken pari in F.F.A. speaking contests, and as in past years delegates will be sent fo the F.F.A. Convention at Green Lake. In correlation with Agriculture class room work, a good part of the time is spent in the shop as part of the practical application aspect where the students learn by doing. Coach Antone Anderson came up with another championship football team again. Since his arrival in Luxemburg in 1945 this is his fifth football championship. Only this time he did it a little differently. Not only did this great Luxemburg team go through conference play undefeated, but for the first time in the history of the school, no school scored against Luxem¬ burg, The only defeat came in a non-conference game with Bonduel, by a score of 20-6. Luxemburg had only put in one week of practice and was beaten by Bonduet who already had played a game. The team though showed fine spirit, but lacked a good pass defense. Luxemburg in conference play scored 124 points to the opponents 0, Our great line consisted of Robert Heim at center, Donald Michieis at right guard, Clarence Michiels and Dale Ronsman shared left guard honors. Milton Greatens was the right tackle and John James the left tackle. The two ends were Ray Vanden Plas at left end and Myron Deprez at right end, The backtield consisted of Donald Dalebroux at quarterback, James Neuser at right halfback, and Dennis Linzmeier at left halfback. Our Hard running fullback was Richard Pieschek, Other members who saw considerable action were Delano Jansen, a hard hitting defensive halfback, and Jim Frrsque who played both halfback and offensive end. Jerry Craviflion also saw considerable action at fullback, as did Harold De Moulin, Ray Heim, Stanley Gezella, Roger James, Ronald Whipp, Larry Legois, and Myron Shimonek in other various positions. Due to the fact that wrestling, a minor sport in the annuals of most Wisconsin high schools, is beginning to gain in popularity, the Luxemburg high school wrestling team was able to secure seven dual matches during the 1951-52 season. At the conclusion of the season, Luxemburg won three, dropped three, and lied one match. Albert Vanden Plas, who has wort five out of six matches, and Kenneth Tilot, who has won five and lost two events. ■m Ronald Whipp, ri newcomer to the squad has won four out of seven bouts, and Galen Vincent has won two out of three contests, Gerald Mathu, the 105 pounder has also won in four out of five matches. The squad is coached by Mr, Chafupa and Mr, Gregor with the latter handling all of the freshmen. It is planned to enter several boys in th e state sectional this year. The sectional meet will be held at Madison on Saturday, March 15. The evening s success financially and socially was attributed to hard and faithful work on the part of the junior class under the able direction of Miss Hannon. By doing this we became champions of the Peninsula conference, and also got revenge for a 13-0 loss we received from their hands at our Homecoming two years ago. In the evening a dance was held in the gym with Duke Yanda and his orchestra furnishing the music. The court of honor included Myra Deprez and John James, James Neuser and Shirley Derenne, Richard Pieschek and Gladys Glaser, Betty Zellner and Ray VandenPtas, Eugenia Jonet and Richard Mineheski, Agnes Abts and Delano Jensen, Don Delebroux and LaVerne Friex, Due to hard work and cooperation on the part of all the seniors, the Homecoming turned out to be a success both financially and socially. Fnige Fifty two SENIOR TRIP The beautiful Sherry Hotel on Chicago ' s south side was their home for three days last May, How much the seniors crowded into these eventful days. No one will ever forget that fine theatrical production, South Pacific at Schubert ' s Theatre. How they marveled at the clock precision with which planes arrived and departed at the world ' s greatest airport. Oh I see the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts are out ' was the re¬ mark of a gypsy group on Maxwell Street as they paraded through this hodgepodge of merchandise stands on the street. For that sarcasm and lack of perception of our senior sophistication, no fortunes were told. In rapid succession there were visits to the Adler Planetarium, Art Institute, Brookfield Zoo, Historical Lincoln Park Zoo t Museum of Science and Industry, Sheid Aquarium, Marshall Field store and Wngley Field. And finally on the homeward trip all had dinner at Maders at Milwaukee. Slacks and informality mingled with the formal atmo¬ sphere of this fine restaurant and none had a better time than our seniors. Maders made them feel at home. Yes, the trip was finally over but how often will memory relive that pleasant trip for the twenty-five members of the Class of 1951, accompanied by their principal, Mr. Gregor.
