Never again will the happy shouts of junior and senior high students ring through its midst . Next fall, the present building will give way to the small fry of LHS. A new, ultra-modern building will hold the upper grades. Here, then, is the yearbook of LHS's final year as a junior-senior high school. Our purpose, in addition to giving a record of the year, is to capture and preserve the fleeting last year in this old house . 2 Judith Barrett Glee Club 234 Pep Club 234 Cardinal 234 Chorus 234 Ensembles 34 GAA 1234 James Baatz Noralf Barstad Office Assistant 34 Concessions 3 Concessions 34 _ Glee Club 1234 FF A 1234 Chorus 1234 FFA 1234 £ emors LuLu Beck Office assistant 34 Concessions 234 Pep Club 234 Cardinal 34 Echo 234 GAA 1234 Dorothy Bell Pep Club 2 GAA 12 Colors: Orchid a J si uer Larry Binford Lois Binford Office assistant Class officer 34 4 Student Council 4 Concessions 4 OPS 23 Echo 34 4 Judd Cooney Class officer 1 Basketball 1234 Student Council 1 Glee Club 23 Football 1234 Baseball 2 Cabinet 1 Ushers 2 Track 1234 Golf 1 OPS 2 Carolyn Bonthius Office assistant 4 Student Council 12 Flagswinging 1234 Concessions 4 Class Play 3 Glee Club 234 Phi Beta 234 Cardinal 2 Pep Club 234 Declam 234 Chorus 34 Echo 34 GAA 1234 Jerald Davis Barbara Cross Pep Club 3 GAA 12 Seniors VL ower: OcU Barbara Eitreim Office assistant 3 Orchestra 123 Glee Club 234 Cardinal 3 Pep Club 234 Chorus 234 Ensembles 4 Echo 34 Band 1234 Ensembles 12 Solos 1234 GAA 1234 Larry Engel Student Council 234 Class Officer 13 Basketball 1234 Football 1234 Baseball 12 Cabinet 4 Track 12 Echo 34 OPS 3 5 George Fremstad Basketball 1 Glee Club 234 Football 1 Track 1 Echo 3 Cleo Erickson Office assistant 2 Student Council 34 Concessions 2 Glee Club 234 Pep Club 234 Chorus 34 Solo 234 Ensembles 34 Band 1234 Solo 234 Ensembles 23 Seniors Harold Gramstad Student Council 34 Class officer 3 Concessions 34 Glee Club 234 Football 1234 Chorus 234 Ushers 2 T rack 123 OPS 23 Arthur Goembel Office assistant 234 Concessions 34 Glee Club 234 Ushers 34 Chorus 234 Solo 234 Ensembles 234 Declam 4 FF A 1234 Marlene Goettsch Phi Beta 34 Pep Club 23 niotto: Out of the Olarior 3nto cHife’s C liannets Ellen Groth Office assistant Pep Club Class officer Concessions Class play Football Declam Ushers T rack OPS 1 34 3 12 4 4 2 234 6 Phyllis Halverson Office assistant 4 Glee Club 34 Phi Beta 3 Pep Club 234 Declam 3 Band 1234 Solo 34 Ensembles 234 Echo 34 GAA 123 Carole Gunderson Office assistant 34 Class Play 3 Glee Club 234 Pep Club 234 Phi Beta 123 Echo 34 GAA 1 James Hamann Student Council 2 Solo Vocal 4 Concessions 2 Glee Club 234 Football 12 Ushers 234 Chorus 34 T rack 12 Echo 3 OPS 2 John Hansen Football 1234 Track 1234 OPS 234 FF A 1234 Robert Hatting Basketball 1 Glee Club 3 Football 2 Cardinal 3 T rack 23 Echo 234 Eugene Heiden Basketball 12 Baseball 123 Football 12 Track 12 Golf 2 David Hengeveld Student Council 34 Class Officer 4 Glee Club 234 Football 1234 Cardinal 34 Ushers 2 Chorus 4 Track 123 OPS 23 7 Marcia Herreid Office assistant 3 Student council 14 Class officer 2 Flagswinging 1234 Cheerleader 34 Class play 3 Glee Club 234 Pep Club 234 Phi Beta 23 Cabinet 1 Chorus 34 Ensembles 234 Solo 234 Declam 123 Echo 234 GAA 234 Durward Heronimus Concessions 3 Basketball 1 Glee Club 234 Declam 1 Chorus 234 Solo 234 Track 2 OPS 2 Margie Huisman Student Council 34 Class Officer 2 Flagswinging 34 Glee Club 234 Phi Beta 23 Pep Club 234 Cabinet 4 Chorus 34 Declam 23 Echo 34 GAA 1234 Ray Hinkly Sports Manager 3 Basketball 12 Baseball 2 Football 123 Ushers 4 T rack 123 OPS 3 Robert Honken Office assistant 4 FF A 1234 OPS 234 Mary Jorgenson Office assistant Class Play Cardinal Phi Beta Pep Club Ushers Declam Echo GAA 23 3 34 12 234 Glorrian Korgel 34 Glee Club 234 123 Cardinal 34 3 Pep Club 234 123 Declam 1234 Chorus 234 Solo 234 Band 34 Echo 4 GAA 1234 8 Jeannette McQuoid Office assistant 3 Concessions 4 Glee Club 234 Phi Beta 4 Pep Club 4 Declam 2 Chorus 34 Ensembles 4 Echo 34 Band 234 Ensembles 2 Solo 234 Teresa Maras3 Concessions 4 Echo 4 John Meinerts Office assistant 4 Glee Club 234 Chorus 234 FFA 1234 Kathleen Mohr Concessions 34 Glee Club 234 Phi Beta 1234 Cardinal 4 Pep Club 234 Declam 3 Band 1234 Ensembles 4 Echo 234 GAA 1234 Deanie Paulson Office assistant 3 Student Council 124 Class officer 2 Glee Club 34 Phi Beta 23 Pep Club 234 Cabinet 4 Chorus 4 Declam 23 Echo 234 GAA 234 Sally Olson Office assistant 34 Concessions 4 Glee Club 234 Phi Beta 1234 Cardinal 234 Pep Club 234 Band 1234 Ensembles 4 GAA 1234 John Piepgras Student Council 4 Class play 3 Glee Club 234 Cardinal 34 Declam 1 Chorus 234 Solo 34 Ensembles 234 Band 1234 Ensembles 2 Vicki Oltmans Office assistant 34 Concessions 34 Cardinal 4 Pep Club 2 ? J unior After several weeks of hilarious rehearsals, the junior class presented The Boarding House Reach11, a three-act comedy written by Donald Payton, on Novem- ber 17-18. The plot of the comedy was concerned with the antics of a teen-age boy and his two sisters who. while their parents were out of town, turned their home in to a boarding house to ea n money for a bicycle. The boarders that moved in an the events that followed made the play rollicking from start to finish. J. Wiese. S. Thompson, K. Nagelstad, E. Gram- stad. 31 FRONT ROW: J. Kiebach, A. Goembel. G. Acting as historians, the Cardinal staff strives to keep a vivid record of life at LHS. The goal of this year’s staff was to get the annual completed on time. Here on these pages, is the products of a year's work amid the clatter of the typewriter, piles of photographs, stacks of page pay-outs, scraps of paper clippings and iden- tification lists, and all other materials vital to composing the Cardinal.
