Seniors Work WE'l.l. TAKE CARE OF YOU Becky Fields and Carol Lauer keep close check on a patient in ER. 7 in Slbecial Areas, Gain This year for the first time, the summer rotation at Logansport was eliminated making it neces- sary for the entire class to receive this training during the first three rotations. Another first was a two week Christmas vacation for the seniors as well as the juniors and freshmen. Because the summer rotation was two weeks longer than usual, it included DISASTER NURS- ING and PROFESSIONAL ADJUSTMENTS II for the whole class at the same time. Growth and development and conditions par- ticularly found in children are studied in the PEDIATRIC rotation. A wide variety of field trips enhanced the students knowledge of facili- ties and institutions for children. The OBSTETRIC rotation leads to many new and rewarding experiences as education is re- ceived in labor and delivery, post partum, the newborn nursery, and the premature nursery. A highlight of OB came when each student was on call to receive a care study patient and follow her entire hospital experience. As well as the study of legal aspects of nursing, SENIOR EXPERIENCE provides the opportunity to learn the techniques of emergency room care and intensive care of patients in the constant care unit. Participation in team nursing as a team leader, and acting as a head nurse during co-charge experience, offers practice that will help the student step from the category of sen- ior student into the position of a graduate nurse.
