A lot of people came to see the momentous ground breaking of Luther- an High West. Lutheran High West started classes in September at St. Peter 81 Paul Church. We waited patiently to move into our new school. The quarters at St. Peter 81 Paul were a little small, but classes ran quite smoothly. After the first six weeks, we moved into our beautiful new school on Linden Road. The wonderful, modern facilities surely were appre- ciated. Our own student lounge became a very popular place for meetings . A well equipped home economics lab and also a new science lab made learning much easier. In November our gymnasium was completed. November 20, , 1958 was a big day in our lives . This was the day Lutheran High West was dedicated. Over two thousand people were present at this historical occasion. The workmen were soon gone from the school and everything settled down. Our large gym helped our sports program a great deal. Each day we assemble in the gym for chapel devotions. This is one of the high points in our day for we have a chance to talk to our God. This wonderful new building has given our students a blessing for whch we should be thankful. School Songs Pep Song Stand up and give a cheer for Lutheran, Loud and louder yet! So no one will forget That once the Longhorns take the lead, There's simply nothing that can stop The Red and White STAMPEDE! And with a charge that sounds like thunder, They will let the whole world see The kind o' go, the kind o' fight. That's sure to lead the Red and White To VICTORY! Red and White, fight, fight! Red and White, fight, fight! Who fight? We fight! Red and White, fight! Fight! FIGHT!! Mr. Katt has composed both our pep song and Alma Mater. He had also composed our former pep song of Lutheran High. The stu- dents of Lutheran West waited for the day when our new pep song would be introduced. Many hours were spent by Mr. Katt writing the words and also the music. The reaction the students had to the song was tremen- dous. Last year it was decided that the Al- ma Mater of Lutheran East and West would remain the same. Only one line of the words had to be changed. Mr. Katt composed the Alma Mater as a prayer to God.
