Accordionisfs Duef Music from musicales, marches and many other arrangements , blares from the trumpets, shrills from the flutes, booms from the drums combines into a harmoni- ous unit under the directing management of Mr. john Katt to produce the quality of sounds heard at concerts given by the A band. These musicians, mostly upper- classmen, have reached the height of in- strumental achievement at Lutheran, hav- ing advanced through B band, into the more difficult group. The band uniforms are cream colored with red trim. Purchased two years ago, they present an attractive appearance . Mr. Katt has directed the band Since its origin. '72

When Lutheran High split into two schools, many members went to Lutheran East. Even with this deficit, the orches- tra totals thirty. The main function of orchestra 3 comes at Christmas. First, the orchestra trav- eled to Metropolitan Hospital where it played hymns and musical arrangements for the patients of the tu- berculosis ward. At the Christmas assembly, the orchestra also participated. Every spring, this group combines with A band to give a spring con- cert. Proceeds from this concert help to equip the bands and orchestra.
