Our choir works very hard during the year preparing for numerous programs. The first appearance of our choir was singing at a teachers' convention. Our choir also sang numerous selections at the Christmas assembly which many par- ents and past graduates attended. Sing- ing in chapel during the school year was also one of their ways to glorify God. Preparing for the spring concert is their major task. The place of the concert this year was Messiah Lutheran Church. Our choir was also honored by being asked to participate in the opera sing. Leonard . All freshmen not in either band or orchestra are required to take this course. The pur- pose of freshmen music is to give the student information in various fields of music. The student is trained how to sing properly. Units in the study of church liturgy and the instru- ments of the orchestra are in- cluded. Each year a symphony is studied so that the student is exposed to good music. Fresh- men music is the first step in training for the day when they will be in our junior-senior choir. This year there is a sep- arate class for freshmen boys and one for girls. It is easier to train the different voices with this arrangement.
