Above: Junior Varsity positions them- selves for serve receive. The 1987 volleyball season proved to be anoth- er exciting one for the Junior Varsity volleyball team. The J.V. Lady Knights finished the season with a 6-8 record. All of the J.V. players can look forward to some tough competition for Varsity positions next year. This years Junior Varsity team had 5 freshmen playing a large portion of time. The Lady Knights volleyball team came into the season with some high expectations. Although the Lady Knights fell short of their goal istatel with a disappointing loss to Archie, there were some good points throughout the season. The Lady Knights comprised a 15-A record. Several new team records were set in the 1987 season. Spike efficiency per match was set at a remarkable 962 against Lone Jack, and the Lady Knights set a record high 367 dig attempts per season. Several individual Beth Savage set two new assists, along with her to the dig attempt team Senior Julie Savage set records were also set in the 1987 season. Sophomore records. Beth led the record books with 185 setting 75 serving aces. Junior Dani LaMette led the team record by compiling 13 of her own in each game. the record for 133 kills er season and an 889 s ik P 1 0 P e efficiency. Julie Savage also received a first ever Honorable Mention All Metro honor. Four Seniors will be leaving the Lady Knights this season. Laura Duenow was a newcomer to Lutheran this year and proved to be a strong force off of the bench. The remaining three starters, Julie Savage, Debbie Moore, and Jeri Rinne, along with Coach Rudzinski have been with the volleyball program for the last four years at Lutheran and have set an impressive four year record of 75-20-1. The volleyball team of 1988 will be looking forward to another good year.
